As for "yank," you mentioned you thought he was a Southern American, which is why you called him a "yank." The interesting thing about that is here in America, it is the Northern Americans who are considered the yankees. Is it the opposite for the UK?

I have enjoyed the banter back and forth on gun control on this thread, but here is something that I haven’t heard from either side of the issue. It looks like the USA maybe heading toward a revolution. If that happens even those that don’t think safety is reason enough to own a gun might be wanting one then, won’t they?

Our state's gun laws are great.
Women can take a class for gun safety to carry concealed.
Assault has gone way down.
Plus, those who carry understand the safety aspects.

We also have the "Make my day" law as it is known.
People who choose to force entry into a home know the resident has a right to defend.

Now if our state could just apply that to motorist. Our state has the highest uninsured (typically unlicensed) motorist - over 20%.
Your odds of being killed or injured by someone who hits and runs, with no insurance and little hope of recovering damages for family or yourself is by cars. The odds, threat, or chance of a car being part of a unnecessary injury or death is far greater than by a gun.

Texting probably just made car threats worse.

But, I do support a law against texting while aiming a loaded gun.

Another unnecessary use of force by a concealed weapons holder happened in Jacksonville over the weekend. A man shot and killed a 17 year old teen over loud music. He says they pulled out a weapon. No witnesses have collaborated that story though and no weapons were found in the vehicle. It seemed to me like this guy had a screw loose. He could have simply ignored them, loud music or not, but he felt the need to play Mr. Badass and confront them over something juvenile and now a kid is dead. That's my take on it.

I'm still for gun rights, but only when the right people have them. This guy was clearly mentally handicapped. I still want to hear more about his side of the story, but so far, I'm not buying what his lawyer is trying to sell.

Moore's lawyer said most of the evidence against his client is circumstantial and that there's nothing tying Moore to the gun used to kill Shakespeare.
Shakespeare's decomposed body was found under a concrete slab and buried in the back of Moore's home in January of 2010.
