The forum can ill afford to lose such a valuable member, both in responding to questions and managing the forum, even for a short time. However, I'm sure that the recent events have been a strain and that taking a break is a sensible thing todo, just come back when you feel its the right time.

Col contacted Bob and apologised. Which is why he he has been re-instated. As I do not know the reasons for Rich and Mike being banned I do not know if this would be appropriate for them.

It's true, I did communicate with Bob and said I knew I had pushed him too far. There was a meeting, and my lifetime ban was cut to one week.

I didn't know Mike had been banned too. Must be something in the water maybe.
I thought Mike had toned down alot to what he was a few years ago when he first started posting.

Because they've been deleted from the database altogether. Their threads remain but their user account is gone. Tens of thousands of posts orphaned...just like that.

Are you saying that there is no way to undo this? If it really is so drastic and irreversible, shouldn't it be a little bit harder to do it in the first place?

It is hard to do in the first place. You need the privilege to do it and then you have to pick Delete User (rather than Ban User) and then confirm that you wish to delete the user.

I guess I meant harder like one person can't just go in and do it on impulse, not harder like more steps in the software.
