Then why are you bothered with it, unless you're of the opinion that that guy Rich was useless at Access and never gave any help to anybody on this forum ever, of course as a newbie I have no idea who split this forum into the faction fighting now on here, do you lthnk it was Larson or that guy Rich
 
Hmmmm. I read the post above that contains the pm text from BobLarson to Rich, and I noticed that the word dictatorial was used several times. Funny thing, I did a search and couldn't find that word used in any recent posts in the Cooler. I also searched the word dictator, and only found it once, and not used by Rich. However, Rich did use that word in a few pm's to me...

Last week I changed my title to read 'Hopefully Not Banned'. Within a few hours, it had mysteriously changed to ''Hopefully Not Banned - but treading on thin ice". When I posted a question about if Mods could make changes to a users profile, Bob pretty much admitted to doing it.

Now I see that someone messed with a poll.

And deleted Rich and Mike.

So someone(s) read my pm's, changed my profile, messed with a poll, and deleted two users without conferring with the other Mods...

I stated in a post recently that I have been a member here for a long time. I have gleaned a lot of help from AWF during that time, and had a lot of fun in the Cooler, getting to know people from all over the world. Rich and Col are two of those people I have come to enjoy. Their wit and humor are second to none, if you are of a mind to NOT TAKE EVERYTHING PERSONAL. (help me Col, should that be personally or personal?) :D

Maybe I'm silly, but I am taken aback by some of the posts here defending the obvious out-of-control actions by a moderator. Col admitted to being over the top, Bob didn't. Bob got revenge. I realize it must be hard to get people to volunteer to be Mods and the like, especially folks with a good background in Access. But they need to know up front that a thick skin is required as well.

And no, I am not from the UK, I'm from Kansas. (go jayhawks!)

Friday, the thing with your title is what convinced me that Bob was behind all of the other nonsense. Anyone who thinks that any of those things were funny has been corrupted by their apparently absolute forum powers. I too respect and deeply appreciate all of the effort that Bob and the other mods have put into maintaining this forum and helping people with technical issues. This forum has literally saved my a** on more than one occasion. But it is clear to me that Bob abused his position.

I think it is only human to take things a little too personally at times - I have been guilty of that before (Paul and George, are you watching?). It is also human and forgivable to sometimes act impulsively when we feel attacked. I think that what should happen now is that Bob should come back (Bob I know you are reading this), man up, and publicly aplogize for overstepping his bounds. Rich and Mike should be given new user accounts. Then everyone can get back to bickering and bantering as usual.

Shouldn't Bob delete all his own posts and profile first though, seems to me the actions of a genuine apologetic person:confused:
 
Bob, do whatever it takes but don't stay away to long, I still have allot to learn. I value your opinion

Rich, if it is you, didn't I warn you about this in a PM? I told you you had better copy down my e-mail before you got banned, only you didn't just get banned, you got DELETED! And Mike too, who has been on good behavior for several years!

I'm going to rescind my earlier well wishes to Bob who has performed an unconscionable abuse of power in my opinion. If he wishes to give up his admin rights and come back as a regular user to help people in the forum, then so be it. Otherwise, he can just stay gone. :mad:

I don't mean to minimize his efforts but spam is NOT that hard to keep with around here.

Now as to Bob's helping users with their Access problems in the tech sections to the tune of 10k posts. That may be missed. If I were him I'd say screw the admin stuff and just do what comes best to hem - Helping people with their Access problems...

We don't actually know that Bob did this. Perhaps it was data corruption or somebody else who is letting Bob bear the blame for this. I suggest we refrain from blaming Bob until we know the facts
