I pointed out that many women have credibly accused Trump of sexual assault (
https://www.businessinsider.com/women-accused-trump-sexual-misconduct-list-2017-12), but none went to the police at the time because of the difficulty of accusing rich well-connect men. I probably should have included Bill Clinton, but I was focusing on more recent cases.
As for the Jean Carroll lawsuit, she took advantage of law that was primarily aimed at dealing with sexual abuse by the clergy. Her accusations were less documented than many others but she had the resources to pursue a case and Trump's repeatedly insulting the judge did not help his case , which is legally a defamation case.
If you don't believe the woman involved, don't forget that Trump boasted about sexual assault on the Access Hollywood and then committed misdemeanor sexual assault on camera (kissing a woman on the lips without permission).
Why should we "not go there" about violent crime? Is there some implicit agreement that ordinary crimes committed by politicians should not be discussed. I thought Andrew Cuomo was doing a reasonably good job as governor, but that didn't give him a right to commit sexual harassment and I was glad to see him resign.
By the way it was J D Vance who called Trump an "American Hitler". As for being a threat to democracy, Trump has repeated stated he would "Suspend the Constitution".
