First Off Hi to everybody, Have only just found this forum & it looks very usefull.

I need to be able to send data to a comm port - I am assuming there is an Active X control for this somewhere but I have had no luck downloading one.

Can anyone point me to a download site for Active X?

Any information on controlling COMM ports would be greatly appreciated,

Regards,

Richard.

Found one for sale at www.active-x.com (search on comm port).

Someone probably has it for free. I searched on Active X using AltaVista and this was one of the first to come up. Perhaps if you search for Active X comm port you'll get there quicker.

Thanks a lot man....I was wandering if the ActiveX from VB would work in access.

So thats the control sorted....now I got to make it control one of those scrolling LED signs - should be fun,

Thanks Again,

Richard.:)

Oh right...

I can register the control OK but when I try to create one on a form I get the error:

You do not have the license required to use this ActiveX control !

Anyone know a way round this??? - I might try installing VB but I dont have it to hand :(

From the website
If you get a licensing error the only way we know to get the licensing is to install VB 6 Professional. Microsoft Technical Support and Sales Staff was of no use when we tried find out how to register or purchase the Comm control.

Let me look around a little more. Maybe I'll find another version that will work.
