i'm hiding a command button once its pressed by changing focus to a text box which isn't used for anything but, allowing me to hide the command button

problem i have encountered is, it of course places a curser in the box, which i then tried to hide with a black image ( as my bg colour is black so you cant see it ) but on the change focus to this aforementioned text box, it would seem to be brought to the front

so how/can you bring to the front the image box so it covers the text box and makes me a happy bunny

You seem to be using a sledgehammer to crack a nut...
Why not instead set the focus to something else on your form e.g. a different command button

that it maybe, dont try the easy routes first

BTW I suggest disabling the button rather than hiding it.

i went with the fist choice of using another button for focus, but just out of intrest can an image box be moved to front on command using VBA

IIRC the 'z-order' cannot be changed at runtime though I would be happy to hear otherwise
