My stepson and his two boys joined us for Saturday lunch and we had a chance to chill for a while. Then my stepdaughter and her wife came over for Sunday lunch. Again, we chilled for a while. The third child, another stepdaughter, is married and lives in Florida. But she was in Cancun this week so we just got a text from her.
Somehow, despite being a stepdad who never had the chance to adopt any of them, the three stepkids still respect and like me. I had a day where I was appreciated. And got fed on someone else's nickel. AND got ice-cream and cake. Can't find too much fault in that kind of a weekend.
