Solved What's up with not being able to post simple replies? (1 Viewer)

My previous response has disappeared so let me try one more time. As before, I was entering plain text in a new thread. Here is a copy from my Notepad:

What in here is deserving of being blocked?

I am all for code tags, but not surrounding everything. :(

In desperation, to thwart another blocking, I used the Microsoft Snipping Tool to show everyone what I was talking about. This is very frustrating. I'm new here but not new to Access, VBA, databases, or coding. I don't understand why I'm being treated this way. I can't do the simplest thing without being blocked.

From your screenshot comment:
The DAO 3.6 library has been superceded by Microsoft Office xx.0 Access database engine Object Libary which has additional functionality
You cannot have both - use the newer library

Regarding your ActiveX error 429, check your settings in Access Options | Trust Center | ActiveX Settings

OK, well the post has been cross-posted. If you want to stop blocking me I'd be happy to let you know where it is.
And here it is.

My ActiveX settings are: Prompt, and the Safe Mode is checked. Should either of those be changed?

I'm pretty sure nobody's blocking you!

Moderators can impose short bans and even permanent bans, but it is rarely done on this site as it is a free speech site!

What is probably happening is that the forum software which is very sensitive to spammers and set up to thwart them in any way it can has detected something about your post which it doesn't like....

It's far better to have the odd, and very rare nconvenience of a post being blocked than a constant influx of spam!

something about your post which it doesn't like....

In addition, as a new user you have more restrictions imposed, like not allowing new posters to post links.. this is not personal it's done to deter the spammers....

You need to make a lot more posts as the number of posts you make triggers the lifting of the ban on posting links....

I even posted a graphic of what I attempted to post, yet all of you keep harping on links! What link are you talking about? I was looking forward working with everyone on this site. But if I can't even post new threads (AGAIN, WITHOUT LINKS) without being blocked with no one here willing/able to tell me the precise reason for the block, I guess my tenure here is involuntarily and preemptively terminated...

Not really. The fact that you replied successfully in post #33 means you aren't terminated. I even examined your account info as though I would edit it - through I didn't change anything. I don't see anything about your account that would bother me in my role as a moderator. Therefore, the only things that would trigger a frequent "Oops" message would be either something intermittent regarding your connection or something that looks like a link in some part of your content. You successfully posted a graphic, which essentially hides all text inside an image. Which makes me think part of the problem is in the text BEFORE you created the graphic. If you CAN post the graphic but CAN'T post the raw text, the problem must be in the text. Damned if I see it at the moment, but that's as far as I can analyze it.

To the best of my knowledge and experience, you are able to paste or directly type or intermingle the two, as you please. I have pasted many times. Such as now...

Does that filter not like pasted text? Am I required to hand-type everything here?

However, specific modes of pasting within Windows CAN include hidden items or hidden characters. The Win pasteboard is not very bright about what it takes in. If you have Notepad, pasting something into an empty Notepad file will reveal invisible or non-standard characters.

Researching this a bit, I noted that there can be a XenForo "buggered" interaction with your browser, so let's ask the question: What browser do you use and is it up to date? What anti-virus do you use?

Dave's suggestion about this string:
LDAP://dc=yourdomain, dc=com
doesn't seem to be significant because when I bring it in, within quotes or not, it doesn't get highlighted like a web reference. The quotes shield it from further processing, but even as-is without quotes, I can see no effect. As a moderator, I could see what it would do if something was special about that string but when evaluating it, that string does nothing. So Dave, nice try but by experiment it doesn't seem to matter.

That's also what I use. Should be OK though you could temporarily relax the settings for testing.
More likely, the issue is with the ADSI_Searcher object. is it defined anywhere?
If that is an ActiveDirectory object as your comment suggests, are you using ActiveDirectory? If not, it won't work
