True @Jon - timing is huge on this. If I remember correctly, I think I've heard that early voters tend to mostly be firmly-minded voters, so, hopefully, the debates can still have an effect on undecided's, who are voting later, who mostly need to be impacted as a demographic.
I read today that polling which measured reactions to RNC speeches showed a significant "better" grade among independents given for Pence's speech. Better than other speeches. Trump's bet on law & order theme might be a better one than pundits have been thinking, if it can be articulated in an even handed manner with nothing offensive thrown in. And the more riots there are ... especially in cities like Kenosha, where people didn't think themselves to be a part of the [perceived] danger of bigger cities.......The more people are thinking "Gee, a few incidents when all this started seemed expected, but it just keeps going and getting worse...."
