Will Joe Biden be the next president?

I'm sure there are democrats here, and most members here can have a rational discussion with people who have different opinions. Democrats have room to speak but perhaps choose not to. It certainly does seem like there are more conservatives posting here, can't say why.

Sun_Force, we have some liberal-minded members and have never (that I recall) banned any of them for their politics. "Room to speak" is not an issue with a forum like this. We might dispute what some of our more "Progressive" members say, but I have to think that their absence might be a sense of disgust, not of censorship. But then, heck, I'm only guessing why they aren't putting up a more strenuous round of commentary.

You can't defame ordinary people.
I remember that case. He did well out of it! If you watch the mainstream media's shortened video of what happened at that event, it is shocking how the victim was portrayed as the aggressor, just because of his skin colour. Is that not the very definition of racism?

Had no idea that "ordinary" people came into it. I see politicians and so forth getting lambasted from all sides! If someone gets accused of say sexual assault, but their case fails in court, is that also not a case of defamation? Does the accused then counter-sue?

I think when you get a critical mass of people from one side of the political spectrum, many don't want to put their head above the parapet. I can understand that. It is a bit like the shy Conservative phenomenon, or the Black Lives Matter movement, where many people are afraid to say what they really think, for fear of retribution. But one thing you can be assured of here, there is very little censorship.

everybody's talking about media bias, but nobody feels this situation here is somewhat strange.
Media bias does not apply here. Look at the definition:

Media bias is the bias or perceived bias of journalists and news producers within the mass media in the selection of many events and stories that are reported and how they are covered.
We are neither journalists nor news producers. Instead, we are just a bunch of people chatting about the election.

Just found out from Fox News that the FBI agent who subpoenaed the Hunter Biden laptop has been working on child pornography for the past 5 years. Maybe there are some legs to this story.

Also, another trove of 26,000 emails are coming from Hunters former business partner. He is in jail and has provided access to his gmail account to Breitbart. Apparently it goes into detail on things like his long term relationship with the Russian Oligarch widow of the former Mayor of Moscow, who paid Hunter $3.3M, and lots of other deals that were going on.

The betting odds are closing fast. In the last 8 days, Biden's lead has plummeted from 35% to just 16% over an 8 day period. As the bombshells get released, I can see this going real bad for Biden. Over the next two weeks, we might even find them level, despite the left-wing media trying to censor this huge story.

Edit: If the current trajectory is maintained, they will be level in 6 days.

If you are a public person like a politician or an actor you have put yourself in a position to be criticized in public.

Alex Jones criticized the Sandy Hook parents by saying they were in on the hoax which opened him up to liability.

That critical mass was evident during the Bush 43 years. Politics peeked on AWF during those years and been on the decline ever since. I know it doesn't feel like it, that's because it's weighted the other way. :p

Jon,
Is the media in the UK covering the suppression of speech by the social media companies? EVERYONE should be terrified by this.

It is in the news. But I would say this. Whenever I watch the "impartial" BBC, they are always taking a negative spin on Trump. It is slanted. The Conservatives in the UK are always complaining about the media bias of the BBC. The Left generally thinks its unbiased. That should tell you all you need to know. There was a change in leadership there recently, and the new incumbent has made several statements that presenters are supposed to be giving impartial news, not slanting it according to political leaning. He said it will be no longer tolerated. Only time will tell.

If you read something like the Daily Mail, they cover it and the scandal. I do not really know what the average guy on the street thinks. Normally, people just regurgitate what they read without critical thought. So if they hear Adam Schiff say Trump is still involved with Russia, despite the Mueller reports findings, they will think he is still involved. They will probably never hear about the scandal within the FBI, where they are doctoring evidence, ignoring other evidence, and where FBI members destroy and wipe their own phones once subpoenaed, all 30 or so of them! It reminds me of Hilliary destroying her emails and phones. Nothing happened to her. The FBI are doing the same thing. Amazing! But who investigates the investigators when they are all in it together? The corruption runs deep.

All this censorship reminds me of 1984 and The Brave New World.

It is all very disturbing right now. I'm deeply troubled and starting to wonder if we are about to elect such a corrupt person. Someone who will make SURE to take every available action he can think of to protect himself, as all corrupt people spend most of their effort doing.

That's the nature of politics
You're not wrong, but ....... I think the million dollar question is a bit similar to what people wonder about, say, climate change or the stock market.

"Is the current state of affairs simply part of an inevitable cycling of events and all will eventually be well, but it doesn't look so now, because we struggle to comprehend the nature and breadth of the cycle itself?"

Or ....... are we really seeing what constitutes SUCH a severe "worsening" that it may portend some level of real doom ...
There is nothing quite so disturbing as to watch two opposite sides, BOTH equally convinced that the other side spells disaster, and feeling more strongly about it [IF that's actually a true statement], than hardly ever before.

That's how I see things right now...If it's true that we're near the brink of unprecedented levels of chaos or the system breaking, that's equally worrisome regardless of which side a person was originally on..

I don't think we have ever been closer to losing are country than we are at this point. Once censorship is entrenched, we will continue forever with a one party system. The conservatives will never again win a presidential election. Big tech will tell us what to think. Forget about the dystopian novels like 1984, Brave New World,The Lord of the Flies, and Animal Farm to name just a few, this reminds me of science fiction stories I read in the 60's about corporations taking over the world. I don't know how many SciFi fans are out there but they have been amazingly prescient. I am still waiting for a transporter though. Beam me up Scotty, there's no intelligent life down here.

Trump is making noises that are scaring the s*** out of liberals. Thinks like teaching actual history in schools rather than the 1619 version of events.

Sadly, unless the Republicans win back the House and Keep the Senate, we're in for four more years of hysteria with Trump fighting all by himself against the Deep State as well as the Republicans and Democrats. The Republicans are just as much swamp creatures as the Democrats and therein lies the problem. The castration of Jeff Sessions was masterful. Trump never saw it coming. His instinct was correct though. He needed to fire Sessions as soon as he recused himself and once Trump didn't fire him, his presidency was doomed to turmoil. Trump should have listened to me instead of his advisors who were batting for the other team. He should have fired Comey the day he took office instead of waiting. He should have fired the head of the FBI as soon as it became obvious he was obstructing justice. It is better to have no department head rather than one who is active working against you and that goes for the head of the CIA as well. He won't make this mistake again and so even the Republicans know that now is their last chance to get rid of him.

If the Dems hadn't cheated in 2008 to put up Obama, I would have voted for Clinton because I was dead set against McCain. I was never voting for the Marxist so I actually voted for Ralph Nader (ick)
If the Dems hadn't cheated in 2016 to put up Clinton, I might have voted for Biden. Probably not because we really needed a change but at least I would have thought about it.

In neither case did I think the world as I know it would come to an end if the Democrat won. In both cases, we didn't know then what we know now about the corruption of these two.

How can anyone vote for a man who sold access to his office for money? Why are the real Democrats standing for this? The Progressive's know that they're going to replace Biden as soon as convenient with Harris. But now we KNOW about Biden's corruption and we have for years. It's like playing whack-a-mole. The story surfaces and big tech stamps it down with suppression and it surfaces again and they stamp it down again. This time there were too many details that were damaging and so they had to throw the kitchen sink at it and give away the game.

@Isaac The left is where doom and goom resides conservatives believe in hope and optimism
Yes! And I "hope" we are right--rather than the possibility that we've been right only because at least a % of our policies have always been implemented..

Right now I'm feeling a lot more like Pat's post, LOL. Then again I felt like crap this morning so it might just be that.
I need to go read that JP Morgan report again to cheer me up. This morning I led with the article about Whitmore putting the numbers "86 45" on camera & that got me in a foul mood

There are rumours that if Trump loses, he will start up the Trump News Network, a new news channel.

That would be very interesting. It certainly is a market that has more room, I think. Right now Fox is basically just shoveling up the piles of money on the floor, unrivaled.

He coined "fake news" and so his would be the "real news" channel. I'm sure he would love to take on CNN! And given his popularity, he could garner many viewers. I could see him becoming a news anchor!
