I guess she never learned that you guys were the experts as you did the slavery bit way back when it was acceptable:rolleyes:

Liverpool was built largely on the slave trade and the exhibits are part of the city coming to terms with its past, and providing a learning experience. However I feel that tho' this is good it is not acceptable to judge all the people of another age entirely by current standards.

PS sorry to have diverted your thread Ken, but Rich wasn't around and somebody's got to do it.:D

Do they still have separate shops / buses and park benches with "whites only" on them?

So even though we, today, think it (slavery), to be so bad, we should not assume every one of that (slavery), era to be a bad person. ?

Isn't that where the National Guard fired on the people it's supposed to protect ?

I believe that was Kent State University where student's were protesting. They killed 4 people if I recall correctly.

By the way I was thinking about protests the other day because there was an article in the local newspaper about the immigration protests and I find it quite interesting that usually when students and young people protest they usually hold liberal beliefs. Typically with most major political debates I'm one of those "stuck on the fence" idiots who see both sides and has a hard time justifying causes one way or the other. But with young people they have the luxury of being "inexperienced" in the ways of the world and can afford to hold idealistic viewpoints no matter how noble or ridiculous it may be. I wonder how many young "fight the power" liberal protesters out there change there ways once they've actually lived a little in the real world for a while.

There was a re-run of the events on tv here recently, the most disturbing thing that stuck in my mind was the interviews with Republicans across the country who were saying that they got what they deserved :(

That is sad, but keep in mind that the media loves to manipulate things. For all we know they may have interviewed 1000 republicans and then only shown they few extremists that made those statements.

Liberal attitude: I am not doing good financially because some Corporation somewhere in the world is ripping off some people.

***************************************************
Taxes should be cut for people in my income bracket; but it should be raised for people making more money than what I make.
***************************************************
All our problems will be solved if Government runs everything. If we all have Government jobs, this world will be a better place. USSR tried it and it collapsed.
***************************************************
Capitalism is the root of all our problems. What we need is wealth distribution (socialism).

Actually, on this thread, we should be teaming up against the fascist in the group, but as any thinking man can see, they’re their own worst enemy anyway.

The Fortune 500 had combined revenue of 9.1 trillion dollars. It would be safe to say many people fortunes were affected by that.

Not like I'm taking this seriously, or that anything constructive could come out of responding to this list, but just because I feel like it...

How to get your political campaign funded by the Republican party:

1. You have to believe the AIDS virus is spread exclusively by gays and is its own solution.

2. You have to believe that sex shouldn't be talked about by anyone anywhere except by a man and his wife on the first night of their honeymoon.

3. You have to believe that criminals should be punished for using a gun but that they should have a Constitutional right to obtain and carry one.

4. You have to believe that environmental problems are fantasies fabricated by ultra-liberals with an agenda.

5. You have to believe that the Constitution gaurantees your right to expression, but not for those who say and do things you don't like or aren't comfortable with.

6. You have to be against abortion but also be against sexual education, funding birth control and aiding single mothers.

7. You have to believe that all government intervention harms your liberty, but harm done by people and businesses will work itself out.

8. You have to believe that government should allow the market to freely regulate itself. Like in 1929.

9. You have to believe that those in poverty want to live that way or are too lazy to do anything about it since they had all the same opportunities you had.

10. You have to believe that it's good to spend $400 billion each year on protecting what we have but bad to spend $10 billion sharing what we have.

11. You have to believe the ACLU is bad, because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the NRA is good, because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.

12. You have to believe that it's good for a government to spend money now and cut taxes, thereby making your children pay the interest on it later, than to cut spending or raise taxes to pay for it now.

13. You have to believe that American history is more important than America presently.

14. You have to believe that racism is an excuse minorities use to maintain a sense of entitlement, but not that tax cuts and transfer payment reductions serve your own sense of entitlement.

15. You have to believe that socialism doesn't work. You have to believe all countries that all politically and socially stable and economically strong are capitalist democracies.

16. You have to believe that homosexuality didn't exist in the good old days, and that all homosexuals parade around in drag and have sex with animals. Oh, and children too.

Greg, I'm a Republician and I still laughed at this. Both Yours and Kens are extreme views. I don't really know of anyone that whole heartly agrees with their party. I am Republician becuase I agree mostly with them. Some views I don't agree with, but most I do. However I may not always vote that way. I vote for the person usually, not the party. However 9 times out of 10 they are a Rep, and not a Dem.
