Absolut vodka

Why can't some americans get a sense of humour??:):)

Why is the ad funny? It's just nostalgic right? Please explain.

Don't worry. With the vastly superior sense of humor that the Brits possess. They should be able to laugh that one off. :p
Be fair Manhattan was paid for. A very low price but...:D

In many years of life I have learnt it is not worth the effort to explain why something is funny to a person who just does not get it!!!!!!!!!!

I can see an advertising theme that will work very well in the vast majority of the world. May even gets the Islamic countries drinking too!

I don't doubt you there. The Iraq war isn't very funny though is it? Somewhere along the line I'm supposed to be laughing at this theme. I'm just not getting the punchline

Is the ad then unintentionally funny? The ad man said it was just nostalgic or is he being untruthful?

Try the vodka, then its all funny for a while, then it all gets a bit seriou:confused:s and then you fall asleep.

Yes, and the very start of the nation was originally stolen from the Native American Indians by the British (in case you have selective amnesia), French, and Spanish.

I'm surprised at you writing such a dumb statement, nobody said who stole it first, but if you take that line then the Americans stole it from the British and Spanish, they bought stolen goods from the French and cheated the Natives etc etc etc .

I would have thought the great satan getting its arse kicked would at the least be mildly amusing if not cause for a world party?

It depends how you look at it.

Whos to say whos right?

This was answered in the post you quote Brian.

I was looking at it from an anti american point of view. (I know what is coming:rolleyes:)

Bob if you come back here p;ease accept my apologies regarding the offensive comment I made earlier.I have removed it but could not PM you to apologise.

That was certainly a nice thing to do Brian. I was thinking it was a bit out of character for you - :)

Kudos for trying to raise the bar around here :)

Can't you recognise a wind-up??

Are you seriously suggesting that the ad man is deliberatley 'winding' the US market up? As the lack of satirical US humor is world reknowned, (according to you), don't you think this is a bit dumb?

Considering the whole theme of the ad/post is anti-US imperialism (surprise, surprise). It's not unreasonable for Bob to point out that the US itself was formed from colonists from different lands. Nothing wrong with a bit of context if you ask me.

Yes but we don't want it back, the Mexicans however............................

but it does sound better that we stole it from the British and Spanish and then French, after they cheated the Natives, rather than we just stole it from defenseless folks.:p:D Gives a little better reputation in this band of thieves.

No I am suggesting you are being wound up and don't even realise it which makes it more fun
