I thought they were after Hollywood with Alex Trebek and Paul Shaffer as their vanguard.
It is hard to trust any nation that can live so peacefully with their neighbors.
There's that old quote (Orson Welles?) about Switzerland - no wars for 200 years, and only cuckoo clocks to show for it. Human endeavour is often fired by dodgy motives. Is that what is bound to happen when a species developes a stupidly powerful brain without losing its basic instincts?

THe quote comes from the Graham Greene book/film "The Third Man" and was said by the character Harry Lime played by Orson Welles.
Harry Lime: Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock. So long Holly.
True a lot did go to Canada. but some like Andrew Carnegie went t o the USA. My cousins went as part of the Brain Drain being well paid for their services.
