Absolut vodka

No I am suggesting you are being wound up and don't even realise it which makes it more fun

Have some respect for other users of this forum!

I'm concerned at the way this discussion is going. Next we'll have the celtic descendants of the Ancient Britons calling for the return of their lands that were stolen by the Angles, Saxons and Vikings - and as for those despicable Normans....... Should I worry about the freehold on my property?:p

The Mayans will want the Hispanics out of Mexico etc etc. There'll be no end of trouble if you ask me.....

We'll all end up in Iraq (isn't that where eden was?) I'd be happy if I could just keep everybody out of my easy chair :p

Quite right too,(I'm of Scot's and Welsh stock :D).
In my first post which talked about America stealing the land I said
What was wrong with the truth, America stole those lands just like it stole the whole of its lands, this has happened all over the world since time began.
I was just puzzled as to why American's could not face the truth.

Brian

Probably for the same reason Brit's can't admit they've done the same thing - Pride. :p

The French can say what they like I will still eat their cheese, the Argies want to steal the Falklands off us , but I drink their wine and eat their beef, should I go on? The American's get upset and give up their favourite drink or call French fries - freedom fries, that's what we cannot understand, it seems childish.

Brian

fyi - The only time I ever even heard of 'freedom fries' was in the liberal med..., er I mean news...

Certainly never at McD's :)

I'm glad to hear that, but the tourist guide we had at the time also used it so I assumed that it was standard, my mistake.

And I was just pointing out, for those who like to blame America for everything, is that the current population of America wouldn't be here if it weren't for the British, French, Spanish, and Dutch doing their "colonistic" expansion. The only reason why we are now Americans and not part of the UK is that a large part of those living here got tired of the blasted treatment as second class citizens and, I'll bet if we had been treated as English equals instead as lower on the totem pole, America wouldn't even exist as it does today.

So, for those self-righteous individuals who keep bashing, give it a break because we haven't been in existence as a country as long as you and therefore don't have the same experiences and mindsets. Yes, we have problems, yes we cause problems, but so did the English during the Crusades to the middle east when your country was actually older than ours currently is.

If you complete my quote Bob you can see that I was not having a go at America for its land stealing.

What was wrong with the truth, America stole those lands just like it stole the whole of its lands, this has happened all over the world since time began.

I think that you need to calm down instead of trying to open a whole can of worms, I do not understand this

I've only been on the planet 66 years what happened in the Crusades impacts on my mindset no more than on yours.

Not sure what the problem is Ken, Bob doesn't come here very often and I think that he has over reacted, He also wont know that I actually like America and Americans, the wife and I will be on our 8th holiday there in 16 years if her health holds up, but friends can still be critical of each other, you want to hear my walking buddy and I argue, it what makes life fun. I'd hate to meet somebody who is perfect, there isn't room for 2 of us.:D

I think his sentiment just about summarizes it for a lot of us US posters, we've just learned to live with the bias. I think this little twit was about land grabbing - a bit hypocritical for the uk to call us on that one isn't :)

Now who are we talking about here? The advert was from Sweden so not them, guess I am the little twit being refferred to as I was the first to mention land grabbing, however I did not confine it to the US, a point lost by all of the American contributors, I use the term loosely, who seem incapable of reading and understanding posts in their entirety.
No point contiueing banging my head against a brick wall so cheerio on this thread.

Geeze Brian, now you're the one being a bit touchy. I never called any one a twit - ! ...Sorry I tried to explain what I was seeing... :)

As Churchill nearly said "America and Britain divided by a common language". I am just to lazy to check the exact quotation
