Wow! I just looked at the Access 2007 Northwind database sample and they have revamped it and given it some cool stuff. It is definitely not the "old" Northwind.

Looks like I could have a whole new learning curve if the company ever decides to upgrade. We have only just got rid of A97 from some machines and have A2k to A2K3 spread accross the rest. Wonder how well 2007 will work with the older versions

So far I'm finding it to work great and you can use it in compatibility mode so you can work on databases and not worry about them being unusable to others that don't have your current version. You can set your default format to A2K, A2K2 to A2K3, or A2K7. Also, you can be set to work in A2K7 mode, but when you open an A2K database it goes automatically into compatible mode so you don't have to worry about messing up someone's database.

There are some other cool things as well, including better form filters when having forms open, built in search box on the form (if using the built in record navigation), and more.

Don't feel too bad. I just got rid of the last old Access 2.0 database that no one ever bothered to upgrade before. We still have some machines running A97, but most are on 2K to A2K3.

We have ordered just a few copies of Office 2007 for us "techies" to play with so we can familiarize ourselves with it before we have to support it/write code for it in the future. I haven't gotten my copy yet though so haven't gotten to play. :(

Bob - your thoughts on this -
the bit that floats my boat is the ability to have richtext - although what impact this has on memory ???

I have not had the chance to play with this - but if this does this - it gets round one of my bugs ...

Will have to play tomorrow on this if I get time

Not sure about this, and I haven't gone in and done something up with the new features yet, other than just play around a little bit. At work we're still on 2000, so it's not going to be something that work will likely do. I may freelance some work and create MDE's and use the new, free runtime (as soon as they come out with it).

thinking of replacing system- from 2000 if the rich text works might be an option -- need to try it out though .g
