Algorithms Galore: The Musk Saga Continues (1 Viewer)

I have to admit, doesn't it kind of seem like schools should be the ultimate thing that could successfully be privatized?
You'd think, but no. That would separate the rich from the poor permanently. Much as I dislike government interference with anything, our best bet is to have the states control schools. That way the people whose children are personally affected, will be able to intervene.

Everyone here has your number and one word popped into their heads when they read this so I don't have to even say it. You persist in playing dumb. I'm beginning to think it isn't a joke. Only you in your persistence to attack me personally would convolute my remarks to make public school a charity. You don't even know what a charity is.
Oh lighten up dear. Its a joke for Christ's sake. Stop being so oversensitive.

Do me a big favour and resist the temptation of coming onto the X platform...

I doubt you could cope with it, because every time you posted a stupid ignorant lie, somebody would raise a community note against it and I'm sure it would piss you off! I can imagine you going off on a rampant raging rant and your head exploding!
Can you be specific?
I don't get angry about this stuff. I leave the emotional reactions to those that are proud of their brainwashed views.

Be specific, what is an example of one of my stupid ignorant lies?

At least a billionaire isn't beholden to the men in the smoke filled rooms and he doesn't have to turn his son into a bagman for the family to collect the payments from our enemies.
The billionaires are the men in the smoke filled rooms.

The United States barely cracks the top 20 among developed countries and economies in terms of overall performance across mathematics, reading, and science.

I am not impressed with the above results are you @Thales750?

This is a direct result of liberal ideology infecting education.
I'm not defending the Department of Education. I'm simply saying that conservative do nothing to improve anything, their only voice seems to be about getting rid of things. They spent the last 50 years doing everything possible to make the department ineffective, when that could have done something to fix it. Afterall, about half of the Secretaries were appointed by Republicans.

If you look at public schools that are located in areas where the parents have predominantly advanced educations, you will see results that are at a substantially different level.
The idea that you believe that liberal ideology aversely effects education is a self fulfilling prophecy, and straight out of the Conservative propaganda machine. Many people, I personally know some of them, are willing to have their children skip formal education because they want to continue with their conservative indoctrination of these children.

How do you explain the Red states having overall poorer educational results than Blue ones?

Yup. You may not be to happy about this, but I agree with you.

Unfortunately many states have people living in them that are proud of their ignorance. The parents don't encourage better, or higher education, and they certainly don't take the initiative to augment the education of their children.

I wanted to be the first one to write this in this thread.
I agree with President Trump about the TikTok ban.

You'll have to tell us where you got your data. This site has data for 2022 and the biggest Democrat states are at the bottom of the pile. Because why would schools be more current:poop:

The three poorest states definitely underperform but California, the golden child? What is their excuse?

Why does that not surprise me? Of course you would be OK with China warping the minds of our children. The only reason Trump is in favor of TicToc is because he used it to his advantage to get to the dumb people who are obsessed with it.

Once again you jump to conclusions. Based, I imagine, on the brain washing you continuously rely on.
TikTok is a bastion of micro business opportunity. Whatever is the motivation for the ban, it is American micro businesses that will suffer.
The war on small business is insatiable.

I'll have to think about that.
How would it separate the rich from the poor if everyone gets a voucher with an appropriate amount?

You didn't say that. If the government provides vouchers, that could work but it would be really hard to define the amount per student since the cost of living varies so much around the country. But it would be better than the current system and dramatically reduce the leakage of funds that happens with the present allocation method.

Whatever is the motivation for the ban

The fact is that TikTok is beholden indirectly to a Chinese corporation in a nation where they kill you when you don't turn over all the data they asked for. Things like, oh, EVERYTHING you do through their portal. The potential for identity theft and extortion? Off the charts. THAT's why Congress initiated the ban.

Since ByteDance owns TikTok any data they shared would be internal to the overarching corporation so wouldn't even be a data breach in a technical sense. The motivation for the ban is the issue of balancing freedom of speech vs. national security, and a dependent TikTok is a serious threat to national security.

I cannot tell you all the things I heard in security briefings while I was still working as a Navy contractor and still held a security clearance, but I CAN tell you that the summary is that Chinese IT companies are NOT going to be our friends as long as the Chinese Communist Party runs things there.

Tik Toc is a case where Trump is 100% wrong. There haven't been many but this is probably the most dangerous.

Of course they share it, but so does every other connection to the internet. You have avoided the point I was making.
The content we mostly see is made by small businesses.

And by the way, the government is, once again, choosing winner and losers. Something you don't seem to mind, when it suits you. This is not just about security, it's about a clash of the the titans.

I don't use tiktok, but there are millions of people trying to make ends meet creating content. We gave all their jobs to China, and now we want to destroy their little businesses.

Other then when he has lied his way out of every misstep, and taken credit for every success. What ever happened to his promise of a great new medical program? the "best ever", the "incredible". All those Trump words.

How do you know anything about the security issues of TikTok? Other than whatever propaganda source you listen to.

They are one of two countries in the world that could legitimately threaten our existence. The American ultra rich have gotten super rich importing Chinese goods and now they are fighting over TikToc. Who pays the price.

This is what you asked for. Winner take all. Well, we're not exactly doing all the winning now, are we?
