DOGE

The good news is, AOC and Bernie are teaming up to save what's left of the democrat party 🥳

And yet you believe the dumbed down misinformation of the left wing media and the Democrats in Congress. What does that say about you? You believe that Musk is running the show rather than making recommendations. You believe that Musk is going to cut SS payments. You can't tell the difference between legitimize benefits and waste/fraud/abuse. Just like the media and you can't tell the difference between legal and illegal immigration. I know it is only two letters but the difference is HUGE as is the cost to the average taxpayer.
I haven't actually given much thought to DOGE other than it's not going to do anything but add to the unemployment numbers, and make it hard for things to get done that need to get done.
What I pay attention to is how this is all going to effect the buying power of the middle class.

I much more concerned about the idiotic manner in which Trump is implementing tariffs. I don't get that from listening to any news. What I do see is that Conservative are very pleased with going against the law and the constitution when their beliefs align with the actions.

You truly have absolutely no clue what I think. You constantly paraphrase me and put words in my mouth. It's actually sad.

About immigration, that is probably the area where you know the least, and have such false pride in your erroneous knowledge. I have 45 years of experience dealing with south of the border workers, you only know what you have been told to think. I live in Texas, remember.

Or it's just funny trolling 🤣
I know, but it was such a great opportunity to set Pat off again. I've been really busy lately and well, I had an extra minute and was bored.

You arrogant ... person! You are an incredible piece of ... work and not in a good way. (I'm carefully choosing my comments.)

All we need to know with any immediacy is that people are coming into this country in violation of our immigration laws, thus making themselves into illegal immigrants who, by our laws, must be deported. The law is clear on that.

If the USA needs cheap labor, which I suspect is directly or indirectly part of your comment, then maybe you should focus your attention and efforts in persuading Congress to do something about the current immigration laws. We haven't had slavery in 160 years, give or take a couple. But cheap immigrant labor DOES help hold down production costs.

The problem is that cheap ILLEGAL immigrant labor doesn't feed back into the government. It DOES feed back into the national economy through purchases in the USA for food and medicine and clothing (and other commodities), but Uncle Sugar doesn't get his cut AND doesn't get any accounting to prove that the immigrants are poor enough that they shouldn't be offering a cut anyway. With neither the money nor the accounting feedback, the government doesn't control things to their liking.

The major difference I see between Conservative and Liberal viewpoints is "Pay me now (the conservative view) or pay me later (the liberal view)" and we should ALL recognize that when it gets to "Pay me later" we always pay more than if we either paid now or lived without. "Kicking the can down the road" for another generation is how we got trillions of dollars in debt.

You seem to be a legend in your own mind. Just because you work for companies that employ slaves illegal aliens, doesn't make you smart. It makes your employers criminals.

  • DOGE is a mandate from the people to clean up government operations to run more efficiently with accountability for taxpay dollars, plain and simple. The goal of which is to reduce fraud, waste, and abuse which could potentially save approximately 1 Trillion dollars. That's a lofty goal and I don't think it's ever been done before. Everyone should be supportive of this except those that are part of the problem. Let's give it a chance to bare fruit.
    • If government workers either directly or indirectly are wasting our taxpayer dollars on unneeded projects or activities, then any of those jobs that are lost is outstandingly good for the country. You know, the people not in government are the one's that mandated that the elected president clean up the FWA. Who would possibly be against that? Workers who work on projects that no normal American would ever hire to do what they are doing even if they had the money to do so.
    • If you like working for the government, move into a part that is needed and worthy of working for.
    • Elon said approximately 20% of the findings during his audit could fall under the fraud category, the other 80% is waste and abuse. So the fraud part is important, but much more so is the waste and abuse. So don't get wrapped around the axle on some of the fraud that comes to light.
    • We now know how a huge part of the scam was being done through NGO's. No taxpayer money should ever go to any NGO without full accountablity for what the money is actually being spent on. No matter how good the intensions are, it is too easy to funnel the money into these organizations and then turn around and use the money for purposes other than what it was originally intended for.
  • THE DEMOCRAT PARTY openly doesn't support the effort because, some folks will naturally lose their jobs in the process. It will be exposed that what they do has a good sounding name (or even cause), but in reality does very little that any of the voters would ever approve of spending tax payer dollars on when they find out where the money is really flowing after being audited. The worst of the bunch are the NGO's and they don't want that gravy train going away because of the kickbacks that make those that setup the money flow is making them rich. It's like free magic money that comes from the tax payers legally and can be used in any manor that the NGO wants without any real accountability to the taxpayers. This will be exposed to be fraud against the American Taxpayer and we want accountability or elimination of these do nothing NGO's with unaccountable black books. Not every program out there is bad, but all of them seem to be unaccountable. That's a really big problem.

It wasn't arogence Doc. It's not just cheep labor, construction workers get paid according to their skill level and work ethic. The indentured slaves in the US are American Walmart workers.

I've been saying for decades, that we need to put a direct tax on businesses for undocumented workers. But that is taxing the rich, so you would reject that out of hand.

More proof of your supposition, and equaly as false. You don't even know you don't know.

I'm guessing as many, or more, Republicans have their hands in the cookie jar. They are caught between a rock and hard place. Waiting it out with crossed fingers I imagine.

Either way, waste and abuse should be stopped, right?

I hear Bernie wants his supporters to register as independent. I kinda hope they do, watering down the democrat party can only be a good thing.

I'm regesrered independent.
Yes to the waste and fraud. Sadly though, Frick and Frack may be unleashing a storm of unintended consequences. Let's hope not.

When faced with budget cuts and or government shutdowns the left loves to pull-out the crying towel.
But consider this:
  • The Nation is trillions of dollars in debt and continues to spend more than we take-in in revenue. At some point heart wrenching decisions have to be made concerning what we can afford. Those on the left refuse to acknowledge that and only whine that cost cutting is hurting them.
  • DOGE has documented that the Democrats have been promoting a massive corruption/grift scam. Twenty billion dollars was allocated to NGOs for fake green projects. So why isn't the likes of ProPublica exposing these scams and demanding that the money be allocated to real programs such as the National Park Service so we don't see their programs cut?

Might surprise you on that specific idea. If the workers are here illegally, and if illegal immigration is a felony, those who hire them are knowingly aiding and abetting a felon after the fact. A penalty is appropriate. We can quibble over the specific charges, but whether you would call something a tax or a fine, an expensive negative consequence is ENTIRELY appropriate. And the only difference between a tax and a fine is the branch & level of government that collects it. Either way, it finds its way to the public coffers.

Granted it is a narrow point of discussion, and our reasons for favoring this negative consequence might differ, but can we agree on the general idea here and not trip over the details of nomenclature?
