Expel Wayward Republicans from the Senate?

I disagree with that. Anyone who'd rather avoid the risk of trial or being charged or a lawsuit will settle if they have the means - very common, means nothing as to guilt.

These settlements generally come out eventually. For example the US has many Presidents but only Donald Trump & Bill Clinton paid out for accusations of sexual assault or harassment. The simplest explanation is that they were the only Presidents who engaged in such conduct.

Making settlements on false accusations only encourages more accusations. Sensible people don't settle unless they think the plaintiff might win.

Clinton paid at least $850.000 to Paula Jones. And who knows how much to silence what the left described as numerous "Bimbo eruptions" that continued for decades. The scale of abuse including ra** allegations was enormous.

Hegseth paid $50.000 to an anonymous person.

Which (winning) in this day and age is increasingly possible no matter who is or isn't guilty. A he said-she said often with pretty much zero evidence comes down to who the jury wants to believe and the foolish MeToo mantras have taught them to automatically believe all women, unfortunately.

Personally I'd never let it go to trial if it happened to me and I had the money to settle - not a chance. Even if I were innocent, it wouldn't really matter either way, I'd settle if I could afford it. Sensible people would rather not be found guilty or liable at trial when there is no evidence either way and it all comes down to who the jury likes more.

Very rare, in fact, that these things even make it to trial, but when they do you have hugely famous cases like Johnny Depp's, where he got lucky...the jury found out that if anything, the woman was even more abusive than the man. But I'd never take the chance. I'm not as likable as Johnny Depp :)

You may not know who she is but he did.

What's missing in this discussion is the mention of any lawsuit brought by this woman. All the disclosures state that he paid her in return for an NDA, not as a result of any lawsuit or threatened lawsuit.

I don't necessarily disagree.

I think the implicit threat of a lawsuit is supposed to be obvious/assumed.

I'm starting to seriously wonder about Kash Patel. I think he took my #1 spot of "concerned about", bumping out Hegseth for who I am most in disagreement (or questioning at least) about being nominated. Couldn't we find someone a touch less contaminated by any and every manner of fringe elements/reputation/statements ??

It seems that your simplistic statement above lacks detail that can be easily researched. Click on the link below. "Grok" identified Nine presidents that had extra marital sex. Eight is a larger number than 2. Of course there could be even more than 8. A possible 9th, "Grok" did not report the allegations by Tara Reade concerning Biden's sexual misconduct.

Moreover, times have changed. Now we have the Democratic party that is obsessed with character assassination, whether real or fake. Bragg's lawfare case against Trump is one example of a repulsive fabricated case by Democrats to take Trump out of the 2024 presidential election. It was a political hit job by Bragg.

As an independent but relevant observation concerning payoff's for sexual favors: Congress paid out $17 million in settlements. Here’s why we know so little about that money. So we have taxpayer money being used to protect Congress people. Congress covers itself to hide cases of sexual abuses by the members of Congress, but then amazingly finds the (fake) moral courage to persecute Trump, Hegseth, and Kavanaugh.
"According to the OOC data released Thursday, there have been 268 settlements. On Wednesday, Rep. Jackie Speier, the California Democrat who unveiled a bill to reform the OOC, announced at a news conference Wednesday that there had been 260 settlements. The previous tally did not include settlements paid in 2015, 2016 and 2017."

List of us presidents who have had extra marital sex.

How many paid hush money (2) that we know of. How many had infidelity issues, probably all. Good luck claiming the moral high ground on drinking and sexapades.

You can remove the first two names from that last. George Washington was clearly infertile (Martha had 4 children before he married her when she was 21) so he could not have fathered any children with his slaves. Thomas Jefferson was a widower when he fathered children with Sally Hemmings.

But only Clinton and Trump engaged sexual assault. Sexual assault is a violent crime. Having an extra-marital affair is not a violent crime and should not be a crime. (NY just repealed its law against adultery).

I am not following the argument being made some "conservatives". Are you saying because some people escape accountability for their crimes, no one such be punished for anything?

Hegseth was not famous when he paid his accuser. And most famous men do not settle assault charges with payoffs.
Rich men frequently settle with women who threaten to tell tales. Somehow when Trump was fooling around with the stripper, it wasn't a problem. It was only a problem many years later once he became the leading candidate for President. Funny about how that happens. Stormy and the other women never accused Trump of assault. They simply threatened to reveal their affair. Get your facts right.

Let us not forget the beloved JFK who used to bring his w****s into the White House with the aid of the Secret Service and screw them while Jackie was up in the Residence. Don't be a hypocrite.

Are you saying that Biden's sexual assault accuser doesn't count, just because it didn't end up settled or tried?

I am sure why you are bringing up JFK. It has 0 relevance to what Trump did.

Here is from the account of Ivana Trump

"After a painful scalp reduction surgery to remove a bald spot, Donald Trump confronted his then-wife, who had previously used the same plastic surgeon.

" 'Your f[******] doctor has ruined me!' Trump cried.

"What followed was a 'violent assault,' according to Lost Tycoon. Donald held back Ivana's arms and began to pull out fistfuls of hair from her scalp, as if to mirror the pain he felt from his own operation. He tore off her clothes and unzipped his pants.

" 'Then he jams his penis inside her for the first time in more than sixteen months. Ivana is terrified... It is a violent assault,' Hurt writes. 'According to versions she repeats to some of her closest confidantes, 'he raped me.'

"Following the incident, Ivana ran upstairs, hid behind a locked door, and remained there 'crying for the rest of night.' When she returned to the master bedroom in the morning, he was there.

"As she looks in horror at the ripped-out hair scattered all over the bed, he glares at her and asks with menacing casualness: 'Does it hurt?' Hurt writes."
Trump's lawyer's response was "you cannot ra** your spouse" . She was paid off and was prohibited from speaking about her marriage and divorce.

And of course Trump boasted about sexual assault in the "Access Hollywood" tape. And Trump has been found guilty of sexual assault in a civil proceeding.

Why the special pleadings for Donald Trump. There is a lot more evidence for sexual assault by Trump than for Clinton.

You're quoting an ungodly mixed-up mixture of anonymous sources, civil trials, and things people said about him.
There just isn't enough hard evidence if there was he'd have been in jail a long time ago.
Every president has issues but we have to vote for one of the two. You can spend all day pointing out Trump's flaws, or potential flaws, or flaws someone said they saw or heard, but it seems pointless

You are accusing Trump of sexual assault when that never happened - he was being blackmailed and that's why he paid but we won't talk about that crime because apparently blackmailing Trump isn't a crime in your book and you are judging him for his sexual dalliances. Fair is fair. If you are going to judge Trump and find him wanting, you should apply the same standards to JFK. At least as far as his disgusting behavior regarding bringing w****s into his home while his wife was present.
