I'll teach my own grandson gun safety thank you - I've seen what the public education system produces.
Does anybody have hard facts that show that Gun Control works?
Unbelievable attitude. How do you lose out with your grandson having to undergo compulsory gun training apart from your own ego? Any shortcomings in the education he receives you can make up for. Big deal.
Simple attitude to understand really. I just want him to be able to use a gun better than I can do math
Most schools I know abandoned the experiment to teach kids to drive. Think of the consequences of a failed public school gun safety course.
FYI - I'm all in favor of a public gun safety course requirement, the local sheriff dept puts it I think, you have to have it before you get a hunting license. It's a good thing.
I'm sorry Ken but that not only sounds a bit boastful but also short sighted. It would appear that kids get hold of all sorts of weapons anyway, so let's have courses on gun handling and all the aspects of responsible gun ownership, perhaps people like you could volunteer to do it in your spare time.
Brian
I see you're not bringing your A game lately Brian, been there![]()
Yeah, I noticed that Brian, several posts back in fact, you on decaf? Probably covered it in the past anyway
Why do you like to call me a yank? Doesn't that break some kind of uk name calling rule?
A proper gun handling course? Sounds like obama talk. I'm good letting a kid go to the safety courses to reinforce responsible habits but there's no way I'd leave it at that. I'm pretty sure my 'habits' are are just as good or better than than the guys teaching the classes. A kid learns when he see's and lives respect for guns day in and day out. Now if a kid doesn't have a experienced role model then I guess a course is all they have. In fact, if thats the only option I'd think twice about letting them around guns in the first place. I don't want to go in the woods where the only background a person with a high powered rifle has is a 'proper class'.
Sorry - have no idea what "Sounds like obama talk" means.
I would be worried that you feel the child is safer in the woods with other people who had their grandpa's "showing them how" as sufficient education for firearms.
