has anyone seen this movie? Since most of you folks here are british, I am wondering if stuff like this is actually funny over in the UK. I found it to be the biggest waste of 2 hours I have ever spent. The movie was actually funny until about 22 minutes into it where the lying started. Then it just turned stupid and never returned.

I thought the beginning was a great concept of how we could live in a world where people just never lied. But then again, I would never want to show up at a woman's house for a date and hear her say that she isn't ready to go out because she was masturbating.

I think if I had the chance I would slap Jennifer Garner in the face for even considering a part in this film, which was obviously a waste of a few months. How it ever got on the movie shelf is beyond my comprehension.

But on the other hand, isn't it sad that stuff like this actually succeeds? I think the only thing that's worse is peoples' ability to be stupid enough to give other people power based on successful lying tactics that they cannot see through.

Pathetic movie in my opinion, not even worth picking up the BluRay on BlockBurster cheepie night. That is often the case when an intended comedy is written and directed by the same person or persons.
Hopefully the cash injection in Massechusettes was worth it for the local people, sets generate a good lot of cash money in pre-production and during filming.

Oh, could I ever use this argument in the atheists-vs.-theists forums on Yahoo!

I got a laugh from a group of friends a few weeks ago.

One of them said that lying was against the law. I responded that in order for a law to be passed prohibiting lying, it would have to be passed by a group of elected representatives.

Can you imagine them making lying illegal????

Talk about a conflict of interests. I am reminded of a Biblical quote that, if applied to Congress passing a law against lying, would be applicable: Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

(And the atheist's joke answer: So the first stone comes arcing in, thumping the hooker on the noggin. Jesus looks around, spies the stone tosser, and says, "Aw, Ma, cut it out.")

Ricky Gervais who is the lead character in the film is simply so overated, I haven't even seen the film but I already know how his character will behave, as he only has one character acting skill...

In the UK he did a series called the Office which had an american spin off, Ricky was funny in that, but it is the exact same character acting method that he employs in all his films... boring...boring...boring

It made me feel the same way as after watching "The curious case of Benjamin Button".

Being taken on a ride of highs and lows in life without any point to the journey. It just seemed to celebrate itself and offered nothing to latch on to.
