The Slightly Obscure Music Discussion And Quizzy Thread

Looks like this thread might have run its course....

Perhaps you should offer a new clue to kick start it again....

I think it would be best to state what your clue is for - song, artist, band?
I'm guessing that is Jesse James thus you want The James Gang. Then again, one person is hardly a gang so I bet that's wrong.

.... or it could be the song The Ballad of Jesse James which has been recorded by several artists

Sorry all wrong.

Its the song.

I used to run into the artist all the time years ago.
My mother was a big fan. Her favorite story was when she was at a red light in her convertible playing one of the artists cassettes. The artist was next to her and leaned out the window and said "Nice Song"

I guess so, because the only other 2 I could come up with is Billy Dean (too young for your story, I'd say) and Dylan (whom I doubt would ever engage anyone like that).

ballad of Billy the Kid

I lived in Cold Spring Harbor (the name of his first album) where he hung out as a kid and later moved there. We had a lot of celebs. Billy, Harry chapin, Perry Como, Dee Schneider (Twisted Sister), Debbie Gibson, John Lennon and Yoko and Julien. Blue Oyster Cult used to play at our high school dances before they were famous.
Now I live near James Taylor and Arlo Guthrie.

Wow, surrounded by musical legends you are.
He's a legend in his own time. Lots of top 40, Top 100 hits and awards. Truly a masterful entertainer who apparently got screwed over by a nefarious manager.
I guess I'm up?
I have one in the wings, but am going to sign off for the night....

OK, here's what you've all been holding your breath for - 1st pair band, 2nd pair song title. Not exactly a great song; kind of whimsical but the band should not be unfamiliar to NA members at least.

Umm...
guess who - clap for the wolfman

Ahh.. Moke wins by a whisker.

This one may be hard.
I went to college with the drummer. He was a nobody and one summer he told us his band was going to england for the summer. We never saw him again until their first album was in the top charts. He used to wear a pink tuxedo so we called him Pinkie.

the first is the band and the next 2 are one of their obscure songs.
