The idea is to establish changes to the language as the norm .... It started out with things like changing manholes, the idea of the name of the James Webb telescope being inappropriate. There are many other older and even newer examples of this trend. It's got nothing to do with the underlying issues with the words which I can see, and I can understand. It's to do with engineering society and creating a new society based on left-wing, communist views.

I have a certain resonance with this thread overall because I have a gay step-daughter (who is a really good person, by the way.) I tend to get a bit bent out of shape when folks spread lies about gays. I also had a good friend in college who was for several years a very good bridge partner - and she was gay but not trans. I have known many people who were gay and most of them were good people. Even the ones I wasn't sure about weren't out to "groom" someone. They had other problems but weren't looking to convert anyone who wasn't already halfway there.
On the other hand, considering the video in #128, I have to admit this is even more confusing than normal to me.
So, the guy transitions. Fine. But THEN decides that the woman the (former) he becomes is a lesbian - who therefore likes being with other women. But s/he could have just stayed as a GUY and then gone with women in the first place. Cheaper and easier. No surgery required. I'm so confused. And obviously, so is s/he.

Jordan Peterson mentioned in a YouTube that anorexia - self harm - suicide - "copycat epidemics" occur regularly about every decade.
Trans is the latest of these epidemics. It is the worst of them all because of its potential to affect others.
For example:-
Entering adolescent girls and women only spaces.
Stealing female valour by winning in sports and subsequently destroying women's hard earned chances of advancement and fulfillment.
I subconsciously knew all this, but to turn it in to words is difficult.
Then I saw this article, which gelled my thoughts on this Phantom Precedent.

I think the reason why people want to stay up on what's happening is because the danger of just ignoring it is greater.
How fast things have moved in the past 5 years compared to the previous 50 portends borderline insanity of our society and when it creeps into schools and gets taught to children to the detriment of many, then yeah I'm very interested in it.
I would prefer our children not grow up crazy

I have gay friends too richard. I personally understand your confusion. that's OK. and I realize I was once an extreme preacher here, but I have since come to realize that it was a bit wrong. You mentioned your step daughter before so I already know about that. I don't blame you one bit. My statement was more to others here rather than you. but I still don't know how this has lasted this long! must be an interesting subject to all.

as you probably know, we have issues with our southern border, because politicians have been too stupid to just enforce a physical border.
the other day there were twelve thousand encounters - that's right, in one day!
but now, the United States Border Patrol put out a memo that requires as follows:
the USCBP issued a memo for Border Patrol agents prohibiting them from addressing persons they catch illegally crossing the border as "Mr., Mrs., Ms., Sir [or] Ma’am" until they ask, "can you please confirm your pronouns or gender identity?" and then adopting whatever the immigrant says.
Imagine out in the hot sun, chasing after people, running into drug smugglers, traffickers of all kinds, having people fighting you, running the patrol of the usual day's activities - and having to worry about asking people what their gender identity is first??????? Or at least they have to be very careful not to say Sir or Maam, until first confirming the gender identity.
If I were coming into a country and the first thing they asked me was whether I had a crossdressing or any other sexual fetish - I'd turn around and leave! maybe they will start doing that, who knows...
