Virtual Reality Headsets - worth the money?

I have developer mode switched on, which enables me to completely disable the virtual boundary. If I have the boundary on, the room I do VR in is too small and I just see the boundary all the time. So, I just keep my feet in the same position on the floor. I've hit a filing cabinet, my monitor and my phone, but fortunately not breaking anything. Sometimes when I do the boxing, one controller might hit the other, or my hand.

My girlfriend had a go at ping pong in VR for the first time, and she stumbled forwards and reached to put her hands on the table to break her fall. Then she suddenly realised the table wasn't there and nearly fell into the sofa! It is just instinctual.

So is real life a sophisticated virtual reality?

(I've been watching a very interesting YouTube video on the subject)

Had a great session with Thrill of the Fight 2 yesterday, with total playing time of about 100 minutes spreak over 3 sessions. Did about 1,050 calories and was drenched in sweat. I am burning at a rate of about 10 calories per minute while playing the game.

I fed all this data into ChatGPT to look at the health implications of this HIIT workout and there are many. Lower cardiovascular and cancer risk. Improved insulin sensitivity, reduced inflamation, weight loss, blood pressure reduction and so on. And because the game is compelling, there is no motivation required. My average per day is about 60 minutes play time.

Glad to see you've stuck with it.

Have you seen the new TGL golf? It's like a mix of VR and real life.

Is that the one where they don't wear a headset?

Yes and the floor under the green moves around to give the green different contours.

Great for real golfers who want to improve their game.

A couple of days ago, I had my highest calorie burn ever, with 110 minutes of active game play, which burned 1200 calories in that one day. Generally speaking, I hate doing anything like HIIT, but with TOTF2, zero motivation is required, and I mean zero!

To be honest, that days session was too much, since I've been aching and hobbling along for the last couple of days, but 1 hour per day is perfectly sustainable.

Can you Hack it?
