What's up with this?:
I posted no links.New members are not able to post links. Doing so will result in that message and the post will be blocked
I did not know that Doc. How many posts does one have to have before that restriction goes away?
Unfortunately this forum software addon that limits new posters from posting links is unable to distinguish that links to other parts of the site are unlikely to be malicious.I posted no links.
That's understandable if the quote contains a link written by the poster being quoted; but it is the denying of the actual link in the quote box itself which is daft - the text in front of little circle with the up arrow in the attached image is a link:It does seem silly - on first inspection - that a message would be flagged for links if a previous message was quoted. But from the marketers perspective, if this check didn't exist then they would just quote anothers post, edit the link in there to their own site, and benefit from this link to promote their site. Google factors in links to websites as a vote for that website, and therefore pushes you up the rankings, for those who didn't already know.

would solve that problem, but also prevent crafty spammers editing links.Sorry, none of the above apply. I literally typed in my response from my keyboard and got the message when I clicked "Post Reply"That "Oops" message occurs when you try to post and your signature area contains a link. It also occurs if you attempt to copy a link, even one to a post in this forum. If you copied something including highlighting a section that included a link. Also if you click the Reply option at the lower right of a post, and the post contained a link, you trip the blocking mechanism.
That may be, but that message can popup for other reasons as well because it happened to me a few years back. This particular reason being discussed is just one of the reasons.Sorry, none of the above apply. I literally typed in my response from my keyboard and got the message when I clicked "Post Reply"
