Trump Administration Predictions (3 Viewers)

I just watched my father pass away today, so for him it truly was liberation day. Parkinson's is a very nasty way to go, but he took it very well.

Thank you @moke123, it is something we will all face eventually. But he had a particularly tough three years that I would not wish on anyone.

Mike, no matter how or when it happens, losing a parent forces you into at least a brief period of re-evaluation. I lost my Dad almost 43 years ago. Even though I was working and making quite decent money, pretty much doing adult things - and had been doing so for several years - there was always that hesitation, that moment of uncertainty... what do I do now?

It hit me like a ton of bricks in certain ways. For instance, I would never again be able to ask his advice. It was more complex in my case because only a few days earlier, we had discussed my mother's apparent slow descent into dementia, probably Alzheimer's (but I didn't request an autopsy to verify.) No matter what your age, no matter what you have been doing, your world changes. My friend, I wish you good luck in your adjustment to the new world that no longer has your father in it. Even when you know it is coming, it is a sobering experience when it actually happens.

Mike,
I lost my dad 43 years ago. I think Doc has captured my thoughts extremely well. Stay strong.

I apalogize for hijacking the thread, it just has been a very different than what I thought it would be and it really set me off today.

Understand perfectly. Not going to gig you for something as important as family.

I'm sorry for your loss. I have some idea of what you are going through. I miss my dad, even after 13 years. In many ways he is still with me. It may be that way for you.

It's Trump's idiotic implementation of them that is the problem. He has a history of actions covered by lies that ultimately benefit the billionaires.
The video clip wasn't about Trump, it was about Bernie. He was advocating for tariffs over free trade, how do you square that circle?

Easy. No one says tariffs can't be effective when done right. Do you think Bernie would put tariffs on an island full of penguins?

We just went through a commander-in-chief who was clearly incapacitated for four years, unelected individuals were effectively running the country without proper constitutional authority or transparency. This was a real constitutional crisis and you guys are worried about penguins? Ok.

It does seem hypocritical, especially for those who once championed tariffs to protect American workers but flipped simply because Trump was the one implementing them. It's reflexive opposition to Trump, where anything he did has to be wrong by default.

I know you think that if you can just pretend to be obtuse long enough, I will concede. Alas for you poor Yorick.

The video was about intelligent application, Trump having no idea how to do anything intelegent makes it very much about him. The moron in the elliptical space in the White House could not have made up a worse way to do this tariff thing.

If you like, I can outline a more intelligent approach. Or, you could ask the Chat GPT what is the most useful implementation. The thing is, blindly agreeing with MAGA and never challenging those assumptions is the root of all Conservative Brainwashing.

Ask the GPT then give it some thought.

Isn't that what you are doing? Think about the last four years and the deafening silence, then come back and talk about brainwashing

Trump has always promised reciprocal tariffs. But that is easier said than done since we usually have a different list of products we import from a country than we export to that country. So adding a 99% tariff to cars won't work if we don't import cars from them. So, his people came up with a calculation to "average" out their overall tariffs and figure out what would be a responsible counter from us. That was the chart Trump was trying to prevent from being a sail in the Rose Garden yesterday.
