I believe it was called the Allied forces that hit those beaches on D-Day. Approx. 8500 soldiers lost their lives, about 2500 Brits, 1500 Canadians and the rest US. There were many problems on all sides that I am sure contributed to the fatalities. I did not say we saved the day by doing it all but without those extra soldiers and equipment supplied by the US. throughout the war, where would you be.It is not arrogance but facts. You like to laugh off those 183,588 soldiers that gave their lives so you might have Freedom which now you throw away like it was nothing for what, the so-called civilized world. That my friend is arrogance and it seems the British have plenty of it as well.
Before I go, one other question ask by Brian in another post:
I believe yes, it was a makeshift militia. Yes, the French in the end did help us with the sea-born problems your country presented but buddy, on the ground we put a 'wooping' on your behinds. From the northern most states all the way down to King Moutains Battle in South Carolina we took enough battles to convince your generals and king to leave our country alone. You do know that sometimes you can grab something and then find out you can not let go of it.
As of yesterday, D-Day -70 years we honored those who fought and those who fell. During 1939 to 1945, the world lost some 60-80 million people because of one mans lust for power.
