Horse or cow?

Yes, because the "chinky tonight" refers to the food, not a person.

I often cook a chinky at home.

I personally don't see anything wrong with the usage then...
(For whatever that's worth  :o ...)

Yes, better than an American, too much fat and gristle there, anyway we eat them for breakfast

So when you say chinky, that could be any number of actual food items? Like if I had an eggroll, I may say I had a chinky snack?

No I don't, I read just a few posts by PCs like you then decided not to waste any more time, tell you what when I'm in the Chinky tonight I'll ask the Chinese whether they find the term having a chinky offensive

I agree it could potentially be offensive, but if they are not meaning it as derogatory, and no one reading the post is of Chinese descent, etc., who cares. I would add that one might have to be careful not to be too liberal with the usage. If it becomes too much a part of your day to day vocabulary, you could slip up and offend someone. So my personal preference would be why take the chance, just don't use it...

(whew...:( )

Yes I've eaten rabbit. It has a twang to it. I don't care for it much.

But you didn't check their other versions of the word, try the fifth one in the list.
That's why I didn't use the term Chink, an American did

But Chinkie is just a derivative of Chink, like Britney is for Brit, Dick is for Richard and Richard is for Rich :p
