The Slightly Obscure Music Discussion And Quizzy Thread

True, but then it wasn't about the vase - it was about the window sill. And did you take the third image to be Dickensian? It was kind of hard to portray "Other Things" but the first two clues were straight-forward enough.

Yeah after trolling through Clipart.com for ages to find pics of 'guys tied to chairs', I found that it was tagged with 'Barnaby Rudge'. Then I was really screwed as there is not many songs about him either :ROFLMAO:

I thought the vase was on a table not a window sill
The third picture was very difficult to make out even when I zoomed it.
Mind you I've never heard of band or song. When NG guessed it, I thought he was taking the proverbial....

I wonder if I should remove the SLIGHTLY word from the thread title? ;)

Ok, here is an easy one, song title and original artist please...

Ding ding ding! A shared win.. I'll let AB and CID decide who posts next!

I was going to defer to AB as he posted first 😁

Did Barry McGuire have any other hit records as that's the only one I can remember.
It was a great song at the time...and powerful lyrics

Eve of Destruction
Barry McGuire

The eastern world it tis explodin',
Violence flarin', bullets loadin',
You're old enough to kill but not for votin',
You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're totin',
And even the Jordan river has bodies floatin',
But you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Don't you understand, what I'm trying to say?
And Can't you feel the fear that I'm feeling today?
If the button is pushed, there's no running away,
There'll be no one to save with the world in a grave,
Take a look around you, boy, it's bound to scare you, boy,
But you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Yeah, my blood's so mad, feels like coagulatin',
I'm sittin' here, just contemplatin',
I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation,
Handful of Senators don't pass legislation,
And marches alone can't bring integration,
When human respect is disintegratin',
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin',
And you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Think of all the hate there is in Red China!
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama!
Ah, you may leave here, for eight days in space,
But when your return, it's the same old place,
The poundin' of the drums, the pride and disgrace,
You can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace,
Hate your next door neighbor, but don't forget to say grace,
And you tell me over and over and over and over again my friend,
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

OK then I'll go...

Song title and artist please.
Clue: Nothing to do with Abba. British band, late 60s

I actually pressed the play icon to see what song they were singing...I'm such a bright lad...

Ha!I left that in as I knew someone would do that!
The clip is from Dancing Queen which is also utterly irrelevant to this song/artist.

OK, not the song I wanted (will reveal that when we have a winner) but here's one that I think will be solved soon. Artist and song title?
