Trump Administration Predictions (1 Viewer)

I was referring to your claim to be politicly objective. Relatively speaking, you are better then some. But the only time you step back and make that claim is AFTER Pat, Steve, AB or someone else calls you on it - when they rebut YOUR claim that they are polarized. You are as bad as you say they are.

Hate to be the one to break it to you.

Except none of my statements are not from anywhere close to the far left. The left often accuse me of being on the right. And, in fact, I am on many issues.

This current DOGE situation has really made me ponder the power of federal judges. Do they really have this power? :::

As long as they are presented with a plaintiff with standing, and as long as they can figure out a way to tie a President's act to "constitutional or not-constitutional", or "in line with federal statutes or not in line", then they can issue an injunction, essentially prohibiting ANY Presidential act?

I'm not sure I'd ever thought of this specific thing until now

Environmental regulations along with trade agreements are the reasons we import wood from places like Canada. We have plenty, we just can't use it. Same with oil, we've hamstrung ourselves with regulations.

Trump and Musk trying to destroy the US economy.
Goes to show what you know.

Although firing people on the spot is a bad look. They need to document the waste, fraud, and abuse. Then in the end, they can fire everyone and even shut down the agencies created by the Executive Branch and get Congress to shut down the ones they created.

I actually admire them for cobbling together these so-called 'drops in the bucket' - which eventually are adding up to real money. And could add up to a lot if they keep this up. and I think more means testing is an excellent idea, there are way too many people living on welfare that have no intention to work or upskill their careers to be less dependant, whatsoever. Government help should be temporary

Releasing the list of ages of people in the SSA database was interesting but not useful. The same list but of people receiving checks is what we really are interested in. Anyone with a little knowledge of queries could have done some analysis on the people in the database but no one thought to do it. That tells you something about the caliber of people in the agency both in management and as worker bees. Finding certain types of invalid data is a trivial process and should be something done at least once or twice per year at a minimum to find old people still collecting to ensure no death notice was missed. Once you find the group of 130 year old's, it does take legwork to ensure you are not cutting off someone who is actually still alive but it isn't rocket science. The brainpower of the DOGE team was not needed for this particular task. Although it will take grunt work to actually clean up the files. My daughter did a similar job last year to clean up out town's voter roles. Grunt work but not rocket science. Good that all checks are direct deposit these days. Makes tracing who got the money significantly easier than having to run down who cashed a paper check.

Every person illegally collecting a SSA payment needs to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and the cases need to be very public to dissuade others from continuing the practice of leaving granny's bank account open after she dies.

no one thought to do it.
Except the IG's, but trump is firing them all. How come? https://oig.ssa.gov/assets/uploads/a-06-21-51022.pdf

However, Musk’s bombshell has long been known by the Social Security Administration (SSA) watchdog, which released an audit in July 2023 showing that 18.9 million people listed as 100 years or older — but not dead — were in the database.

Only 86,000 people living in the US at the time were actually centenarians, according to the Census Bureau.

The 2015 audit showed about $3.1 billion in earnings reported by employers or self-employed individuals who were not the actual Social Security number holder.

Alex Nowrasteh, Cato Institute vice president for economic and social policy studies, replied to Musk’s tweet by noting that a lot of Social Security numbers for people older than age 100 were “illegal immigrants paying in, not fraudulent recipients taking out.”

“By all means, clean up SSA and mark those people as deceased. But the cost of doing so is less revenue going into Social Security,” Nowrasteh said. “Maybe that’s fine, SS should be shut down anyway, but that is a downside.”

Nowrasteh and other observers believe that Musk was pulling from a Social Security list known as “Numident,” which includes every number handed out since the benefits program started in 1936.

“Some people have more than one number, occasionally because they’re committing fraud, but more usually because they’ve had fraud committed against them and they were issued a new clean number,” a former SSA employee told journalist Jesse Singal.

“[A]lso you have people who received a Social Security number and then left the US, like temporary immigrant workers,” the employee added. “But there’s a long term recognized problem with SSA’s databases not marking as dead people who have died.”

If they did it at the SSA, they did a p*** poor job of it and deserved to be fired since it was their job to keep the data clean and they failed miserably.

Every time I have ever spoken to someone at SSA or Medicare (which hasn't been often since it is so frustrating), I spoke to someone stupid. They were nice, they were pleasant, they "tried" to help but they didn't and they never followed through.

I did mention that the full list wasn't particularly interesting. It is the list of those receiving payments that is more relevant. But, you know and I know that dirty data should be cleaned. At least the easy stuff. If someone hasn't recorded income in x years and isn't receiving payments, what is wrong with using a provisional death date? It could take a lot of manpower to clean up the marginal cases but the low-hanging fruit is pretty easy to pick off and yet the IG never bothered to do it.

The SSA should KNOW which SSN's were validly issued by them and which are bogus. They should have been giving these bogus numbers to ICE and the FBI all along so those agencies could ferret out illegal aliens and people committing fraud. Again, if a SSN was stolen, it should be marked as such. I know it isn't easy to change non-relational database tables but it is possible and as long as the program doesn't need to use the data, the modification is trivial. You just change the copy book for the record layout and recompile the program. Voila, the new fields have been accounted for and no one actually had to change a line of code. OK, if they weren't using copy books, then the first change requires you to replace the hard coded layout with a copy book. Quite trivial. There is simply no excuse no matter how hard you try to make these incompetents blameless.

Who wasted the millions of dollars allocated to get the retirement system out of the mine :eek::eek::eek::eek: in Iron Mountain in Pennsylvania? That is hysterical. They couldn't create a better solution? Any competent Access developer could have created a replacement application that wasn't limited to 10,000 retirements per year for less than $100,000. Probably a lot less:(

Don't waste your creds dying on this hill. Be happy DOGE is on the job doing what has needed to be done for YEARS.

So, do something about it. Oh that's right, nobody until Musk would.

As to the second thing, I'm not even sure how to answer that. is that a serious defense of the illegal SS payouts? We'd hate to lose any dollars incoming on payroll taxes, so let's protect the identity theft we know is occurring and officially sanction it - What??!! Really?? That's retarded.

Revising an earlier prediction. When Frick and Frack actually succeed in destying the US, and Global, Economies; I say many (most) of you will still blame the democrats.
