I've actually been a member since 2001, so I think I'll be able to put up with it.

You snuffed out the chance of one ever being created with great aplomb! :D

Ah. I wasn't trying to be snarky. I've actually been a lurker in here for a long time but I really didn't join the discussion much because other users (like yourself) had covered my points for me.

Hey, I just figured that being in Canada, the seal hunt discussion was a good place to start. :)

I do wish some would stick to the topic in hand
Now how does one bring the Canadians into the 21century and in doing so bring an end to this barbaric sport?

What about the Norwegians, why do you leave them out of it?

Where had we decided that this had to end? Can it not just be continued on under the current laws/restrictions, making sure the hunt is done humanely?

you've also been wrongly accused of being 'paranoid in the extreme' so you're definitely part of the club :)

Hopefully pun not intended. :p

I knew I wasn't probably going to get an apology for it, so I just ignored it. An accusation with no basis really doesn't mean a whole lot to me.

Very few see it as humane

Such stoicism, you show wisdom beyond your post count :p

Do you have legitimate numbers to back that up?
No but then this isn't a court so I don't need figures, however I do know how Europeans in general feel on the topic.

Actually I have some to back up the opposite point:

Myth #16: The majority of Canadians are opposed to the seal hunt.

Reality: Animal rights groups currently campaigning against the seal hunt cite a 2004 Ipsos-Reid poll stating that 71 per cent of Canadians are opposed to the hunt. In fact, Canadians support federal policies regarding the seal hunt. An Ipsos-Reid survey conducted in February 2005 concluded that 60 per cent of Canadians are in favour of a responsible hunt. The survey methodology and results of this poll are available on request.

It may only be a Canadian poll, but I'm not sure if there have been any official polls done outside Canada.
