Brian.....I really do not know,,,,, but his words leave it completely open.

The better question is; Do you really want to burn that bridge?

It is apparent that some do.

I was just wondering , if a nonbeliever "blasphemed" but later became a believer and said sorry, would he still burn in hell?

Brian

I am also surprised that all sins are equal, does this mean I'm as bad as Hitler as I pinched(stole) a paper clip from the office?

Brian

Yes Brian, you will burn in hell for eternity.

Blade -Yes, it is civil disobedience, and it comes with consequences. When it was illegal to strike, strikers were regularly beaten, arrested, and sometimes even killed. Evironmentalists who force site closures are routinely ticketed and often arrested, and a hell of a lot of the Occupy protesters wound up in court.

But suddenly it's unfair when the shoe is on the other foot?

Besides, as Brian said, if your religion prevents you from doing your job, then it's time to find another job.

Hell, have you ever told a little white lie to make someone feel better?

Yeah, that's still a lie. Because you said that those jeans DON'T make her butt look big, you're going to Hell. That's just as grave a sin as eating twelve babies alive and bathing in their blood.

Your 'Burn in Hell' is technically wrong. If you burn by Hell's fire (nuclear) you are dead. The Bible does not anywhere speak of torture. The hell that you speak of is of Man's design to scare people into submission.

Brian as to your other question, I do not know, guess you would just be taking your chances, but as I said before, do you really want to burn that bridge?

Brian, In God's eyes all sins are equal. You sin, you sin.

Stealing is stealing regardless how big or how it is worth. Only under man's laws is there a difference.

With the exception the shoe is on the other foot, I,,,,I ,,,,,,I well agreeee with you. I have no dog in this hunt. I just simply told you what was coming of course in my opinion. I think it will not go away. Compare it to Abortion or the killing of a Human being.

Frothy, you are correct...and the reasoning is

"First, the belief that a white lie is “helpful” is rooted in the idea that the end justifies the means. If the lie results in a perceived “good,” then the lie was justified. However, God’s condemnation of lying in Proverbs 6:16–19 contains no exception clause. Also, who defines the “good” that results from the lie? A salesman telling white lies may sell his product—a “good” thing for him—but what about the customer who was taken advantage of?"

"Telling a white lie to be “tactful” or to spare someone’s feelings is also a foolish thing to do. A person who consistently lies to make people feel good will eventually be seen for what he is: a liar. Those who traffic in white lies will damage their credibility".

Blade, do I really have to explain to you that, unless you want to sleep on the couch for the next week, the only correct answer to "Does this make my ass look fat?" is "No, dear, not at all."?

Take it from someone who is almost pathologically honest: little white lies are what allow people to exist alongside one another without bloodshed. The ONLY reason I get away with not telling them is that people who know me know that I wouldn't know diplomacy if you beat me with it. And I've learned to just not answer.

I don’t believe the idea that all sins are equal is correct, Blade / Brian.

Both stealing and murder may be breaking the law and both may be sins, but to somehow conclude that they are therefore equal simply does not follow. All prisoners in a jail may be law breakers, but that doesn’t mean the crimes they committed were equal in any moral sense – just that all committed crimes / all are law breakers.

Then she was correct, who? , the devout Christian I was having a conversation with a few years ago.
I said surely if a person just cannot honestly believe but lives an otherwise good life and is wrong then your God, who is said to be merciful, will forgive him/her. She replied, and if He is not merciful we are all in deep trouble as we have all sinned at sometime.

Have a good day Blade.

Still silence from above (or wherever), despite my invitations and incantations ...

Come on - how about some small disaster then? A ferry tipping over or a bus down a ravine? You know, the usual stuff with plenty of innocent victims, just to teach everyone some mysterious lesson?

But you could still just write a post here ...

@Frothingslosh

You could try "fora" - sounds very nicely pompous :D

But wait - a smaller sign could do it too.

Some years ago there was this brain-damaged kid that turned-up to welcome his dad coming back from Iraq, and stunned him by walking unaided into his arms. Everyone went ah and ih, what a god's miracle. The omnipotent but apparently lazy SOB did not see fit to prevent the kid getting the brain damage in the first place, but just milked the event for all the PR among the converted victims.

(John 14:6) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

...Notice he did not say, if you do good deeds while you are alive, it will get you into heaven. etc,........"cannot honestly believe" is NOT an option for everlasting life from the scripture above. Your Choice..

So for those who have never heard of him that's just tough.

Just think if you had been born somewhere else you could well be heading to hell, and you believe in this postcode lottery?

That is why he has not come back the second time YET! When he left he told he told his disciples, Mathew 28:19.

That is one thing the church does well. There are not a whole lot of people left that have not been touched by the Christian church.

Of course one can always claim he did not know!? I prefer to believe that a God who can tell his prophets that certain events will happen on certain days 150 to 200 years in the future and they actually happen to the day, can know what is in your heart. My guess is it is very hard to lie to him.

Spikepl....FYI .....Earthquakes and other disasters are on the rise with frequency and intensity since the early 1900s as foretold in the Bible. Those Innocent people you speak of, died because their days on this earth had run out. The Bible tells us everyone's days are numbered from the time he/she is born. Those that truly believe are now in heaven and those that do not believe, well.....are Dead in 'the' Nothingness I have heard so much about from some of the most brilliant minds on this section of this forum. Rem, we are all born to die

The Doctor (who had died about a year earlier) came to me one night in a dream. He told me to tell my father 'not to worry, it was wonderful on the other side" two years before my fathers death.. He did not tell me when to tell but some how I knew the right time. After I whispered these words into his ear, he let go and died peacefully.

I am comforted in the fact that I will meet him again once I leave this world.

Regardless (irregardless, lol) of what you think, there is a heaven and the end of the world as we know it is coming. It may be tomorrow or it maybe 50 years or more from now but it is coming. While the Bible forewarns of the events that have to happen prior to those days, the Bible does give us clues as to the month and days it will happen, Only God knows the exact date of the beginning of the end.
