my preferred source is wikipedia

as an overview:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recapitulation_theory

"Modern biology rejects the literal and universal form of Haeckel's theory"

and on here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gill_slit

it says "In the 19th century, gill slits of vertebrate embryos were erroneously thought to be actual gills, and thus evidence for the recapitulation theory"
We all know that wikpedia is 100% accurate - Not :D

I just felt you were being pedantic over the difference between gills and gill slits.

The Men Who Made The U. S. Constitution
Were Godless Heathens

The men who made the immoral U. S. Constitution were Godless heathens. The document does not acknowledge or make any reference, to the existence or providence of the Supreme Being. The nation, as such, has no God. This is an essential evil in the Constitution, which involves the hideous charge of national atheism! "The general government is erected for the general good of the United States, and especially for the management of their foreign concerns: but no association of men for moral purposes can be justified in an entire neglect of the Sovereign of the World. No consideration will justify the framers of the federal constitution, and the administration of the government, in withholding a recognition of the Lord and his anointed from the grand charter of the nation.

The Constitution Of The United States Contains An Infidel & Anti-Christian Principle

The Constitution Of The United States Contains An Infidel And Anti-Christian Principle

The Constitution of the United States contains the infidel and anti-Christian principle, that a nation as such ought not to support, nor even recognize the religion of the Lord Jesus Christ. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

It is unquestionably the duty of nations to make public provision for the maintenance of the worship of the true God as He has made himself known in the scriptures, whenever these scriptures are enjoyed. Apart from this, we cannot attach any satisfactory meaning to such prophetical parts of scripture, as declares that kings shall be nursing fathers, and queens shall be nursing mothers to the church. Apart from this, we cannot comprehend how the kings and judges of the earth shall render that homage unto the Son of God, which they are commanded to yield—"Kiss ye the Son." "Yea, all kings shall fall down before Him—all nations shall serve Him."

As a non United States citizen I have always thought it an extremely sensible and farseeing decision to separate religion from the state. You only need to look round the world to see countries where this separation has not occurred and the problems that this has caused.

Mick, I am so glad you exist because you seem to embody everything about religious fundamentalism that I dislike. When I read the posts in this thread from the sincere honest polite believers I begin to wonder if I am missing something and perhaps should rethink my position but you come along and confirm my worst fears about religious intolerance and the dangers of organised religion.

Well said (so good in fact you had to say it twice;))

Ummm...he doesn't speak for me (as a Christian or American). And he's pasting stuff from other sources. I have nothing against him but I'm not sure what his agenda is and I find his cut/paste posts very...unsettling. Not because they make me think but because there are extemists out there who believe this stuff. It is unclear whether he believes it or not.

Personally, I do wonder about anyone who feels the need to post everything in large bold font.

Makes me think that if even he can't decide which bits of the statement are the most important, and so worth emphasising, most likely none of it is?
