The Ten Commandments have profoundly influenced the... formation of our country. That influence is clearly seen in the Declaration of Independence, which declared that “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal...
The Ten Commandments impose the death penalty upon "He who sacrifices to any god, other than to the LORD alone." That is hardly consistent with the principle that all men are created with an equal right to religious liberty.

I have searched the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20 2:17 and there is no mention of the death penalty as mentioned above. Perhaps you are confusing the ten commandments with other pieces of religious law.

How about "Thou shalt not kill" conflicting with your right to bear arms etc.,etc

Sorry, the 10 commandments are not located in Exodus 22 (see Rabbie's post for exact location). I think the framers of the Declaration of Independence properly and purposefully didn't include the concepts in the document because it is Jewish Law, and some may say, it is currently (and 200 years ago was) outdated.

Particularly "If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it, he shall pay five oxen for the ox and four sheep for the sheep." This type of stuff just has no business in the documents that form a new country.

"You shall not wrong a stranger or oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt." Again, not part of the 10 commandments and clearly not pertinent to the formation of the United States of America, even though it seems like sound advice, though the reasoning is a bit off from the framers point of view.

What exactly is your point, Mick?
I am personally proud to be from a country that was founded by godless heathens.

You need to learn about the 10 commandments before you start lecturing people.

The first white Christian men to illegally immigrate here and steal land from the Indians in the northern part of our country killed their children for not properly honoring their parents.

And your point is?

And many of your States still carry on the tradition, progress eh:rolleyes:

The point is that the illegal immigrants had some very strange parenting ideas. But then face it, who hasn't felt like to doing the same lol. Not that we would follow through.
I was asking Mick Jagger what his point was. It didn't seem to have any connection to my post which he was quoting.

Maybe you've found a loophole that would really vex any Christian gun nuts?
They can have a gun, but they can't kill anyone.
