How would they put flood defences in Bangladesh?

if you'r eoffering to go out there Rich, i'm sure they'd welcome you...i was talking about Rainy Britain...

the stuff that happened the other side of the world was still nature..not god...or a butterfly flapping in the wrong sync with all the other butterflies...or have i got that choas theory wrong

I just open my eyes and see the ugliness of the world to know that there is no god. Just because many are blind to this fact, or delude themselves, doesn't mean there is a god.

Yes you see the world without God. - and its ugly. Others see the world with God and its beautiful.

To make it simple for you - think of beer as God and yourself as the world. Then imagine how those with God and those without God see you.

Who right then - those with God or those without?

dude, that is FAR too deep for me. I have no trouble thinking about beer, though. Actually, I'm thinking about it right now.

I didn't say the world without god is ugly. You are twisting my words. The world is just as beautiful to me as it is to you. Belief in god is not necessary to appreciate that beauty.

If you attribute all beauty in the world to god, then you must also give him credit for all the ugly things in the world. When you see wars, torture, murder, natural disasters, fires, child abuse, disease, starvation, etc, etc, etc, is that beautiful to you? Is that god's work too?

The fact that you attribute beauty to god is just a trick inside your own head, it is in the eye of the beholder so to speak. It doesn't have any bearing whatsoever on whether god actually exists.

there you go again, exactly what has been pointed out before..i'm simply saying what i see..but you are talking in a global sense and speaking for others.. i believe there is a god, are you now telling me what i should or shouldn't believe??

You can believe or see whatever you want. But you can't say, I believe this in my head, therefore it is a fact that god exists.

Various parts of Britain have suffered from flash flooding over the years, I'm a little confused by your original point?

yes Rich, but most have been proven that developers have built on vital flood plains where usually water would have runn off or soaked into the ground..except tarmac ain't that good at absorbing water... the water tends to congragate in places like street corners in gangs of at least 5 or 6, shifty look about it as well..

You may not like or agree with my argument, but at least come up with a counterargument. Otherwise, you might as well just say na na nana na and be done with it.

Only if my definition of God is what you as an atheist tell me it is.

You are telling people what to beleive! - And really you have no idea yourself!

I still remember when we had what was termed a drought for two years on the trot when we were told that due to global warming we were going to have dry hot Med. summers, now according to the experts, flooding is due to global warming, am I really the only one that remembers our glorious summers have always been crap!

Are you implying that you give god credit for all the beauty in the world, but absolve him of responsibility of all the ugliness in the world?

I am not telling you what to believe. Like I said before, you and Sam can believe anything you like. All I am saying is that your beliefs do not consitute evidence of god's existence.

Ok, let me recap. I said, there is no evidence god exists. You said, I don't need evidence because I see beauty and I know that god put it there. I said, what you "know" in your head doesn't have any bearing on whether god exists or not.

They just pick and choose what to debate, Sam didn't look further than the end of his nose in his response to me, there was a time when people debated properly on this thread, but not any more. Its hardly worth a visit.
