Coronavirus - are we all doomed?

I knocked up my neighbour this morning.

Very positive news about an anti-malaria drug having a 100% cure rate on a small sample of caes. Trump is getting it available almost immediately in the US, by slashing regulations etc. Hopefully it works and will save us all! I hope the UK get that arse in gear and does the same.

Hi everyone ,
India , Apart being 2nd highest populated country & still economically devlopping , I thing we are still in good position in terms controlling the "community spreading" of this virus..
what are your views?

I hope you're right, but Italy is paying a heavy price for that very mentality.

Stay safe

Yeah you are right , (already ordered curfew against mass gatherings etc)
But in some report I read that Italy situation is worse due to high percentage of elders in the country?

Combination of factors actually. There IS a high number of elderly but I have no idea where the percentage is in relation to the rest of the world. The initial areas hit (Milan and Venice) are high tourist spots year round and a good number of tourists are Asian. Add to the mix the incredable amount of skint-to-skin contact and you have very good environment for this nasty virus to thrive.

They are taking it VERY seriously now and we are under the closet thing to martial law imaginable. Even us Americans stationed here are required to carry papers allowing us to commute to work. I have never experienced anything remotely close to this...

Yeah ...Even here in our office ...persons with slightest health upset are advised to take compulsory 5 days leave & if anyone found to return after attending a mass gathering are not even allowed inside the office .All these measures are even making the panic higher.

the panic is ridiculous at this point. =( good thing over here though, is that the Wal Mart stores' shelves are apparently re-stocked with products.

Thinking like this is probably the reason your county has the highest number of cases in iowa.
22 known cases means there are likely over a hundred. Given it's a college town that number is probably pretty conservative.
40 year olds are not immune.

Is this ridiculous?

Bergamo.jpg

Coronavirus: military vehicle column in Bergamo with coffins. An impressive column of military vehicles crossed the heart of Bergamo tonight, from the monumental cemetery to the highway, with the coffins of the coronavirus dead people on board. Bergamo cemetery can no longer manage for the high number of victims. Time for the cremations had now exceeded the week. The coffins, carried on about thirty army trucks, are about seventy and are directed to a dozen destinations throughout Italy. 💔😞🇮🇹

the college kids in this town are stupid. they are travelling out of the country for spring break, and bringing the crap back with them.

I noticed! I will try to find it somewhere other than FaceBook. It dovetails with a reply you made about how the different cultures are dealing with this thing...

Italy has a lot of contact with China as it pertains to goods and services. China relatively speaking is a closed and secretive society, they did not share with Italy, Iran or the rest of the world what happen in Wuhan until it was to late.

Adam, in a world with this many people, there is a vast array of different motivations regarding why someone would look at your LinkedIn profile, including a search with poorly constructed limits on where to look. You yourself are a proponent of teaching people the "right" way to use Google. Can you not imagine a Google user looking for tech-savvy people but forgetting to specify where?

Don't go paranoid, young man. (You have called me "old man" once or twice, so I'm allowed...) Look for the simpler answer - a dumb user asking the wrong question.
