Coronavirus - are we all doomed?

I really don't understand why he can't make up his mind.
I wouldn't support my prime minister if he can't even decide what is right and wrong.
Is trump leaving a door open to use it as an excuse for insurance? "I told you I may change my mind. You didn't listen."

I agree, as president he cannot offer his own personal opinion, he has to be presidential and advise the country accordingly...

He did make up his mind. He said he won't be wearing one. And there is nothing wrong with contemplating a choice during a fast moving situation.

Would you support a prime minster who is unable to change their mind?

I need a leader. Not someone who is lost and doesn't know what to do. Or changes his mind periodically.
I need someone who thinks, decide then talk. I follow a leader who researches before talking and doesn't say maybe tomorrow I will change my mind.
I need a leader who can say I will think over it if he's not determined,

An admirable goal, but not necessarily realistic. A few posts back, you referred to the "truth". The "truth" (in reality), is evolutionary, subject to change as more data/knowledge is accumulated. Adjusting to those changes means adapting or "changing one's mind". So on one hand, would you really want a leader who is rigid and refuses to change his or her mind? Conversely, you wouldn't want a person who whimsically changes their mind. The "truth" and "changing one's mind" lies somewhere between the two extremes.

Finally, is the "leader" changing his or her mind more than anyone else (in a leadership position)? The reason, I bring this up is that Fox News had an endless supply of the quotes made by the Democratic leadership reversing what they said during the Clinton impeachment for what they are now saying regarding the Trump administration. You may believe that Trump is being erratic, but before you can actually condemn the "leader" you need to take into account the massive distortion of the "truth" and hypocrisy of the those attacking the "leader". So the question arises, are your perceptions of events valid?

You may believe that Trump is being erratic,

I happened to watch Donald Trump on several of the David Letterman programs. They are available for all to see on YouTube. The Donald Trump I saw with David Letterman is exactly the same Donald Trump I see as the President. He behaved in exactly the same way, evasive, contrary, avoiding, arrogant! He sometimes sounds stupid, but you have a sense of an underlying intellect...

Good response. A while back we had the thread "People with a Different Sort of "Genius" . One of the issues debated was the relationship between insanity and genius. Trump may be acting stupid, arrogant, and erratic, but is it because he is or is that we fail to perceive what he "sees"?

Trump on several (limited) occasions has shown some insight that others did not seem to have. My principle example, his claims to be surveilled before others knew it. Paranoia sometimes is valid! Anyway, making immediate judgements (today) on a person's work performance may be premature. We may need to wait a few years before we really know how well Trump performed.

PS: Both Obama and Trump won a presidential election that they never should have won. But they did. Go figure.

PS PS: As an additional thought. If Trump was actually "stupid" in the classical sense, he would never have achieved the success that he has. So it implies that he is doing something "right". We just don't know what it is.

you can't find one in this day in age, because no one knows what's going on. and if anyone claims they do, they're false.

Gasp!!! A comment I can agree with.

I would add that many leaders today do not disclose what they really mean to the public, but speak in evasive abstract palatable terms. One of my pet peeves in that regard concerns an interviewer who asks a financial pundit what stocks a person should buy. The pundit responds: "buy good quality stocks". The term "good quality stocks" is a useless abstract evasion. What is a good quality stock? Few interviewers pressure the pundit to respond with an actual specific stock recommendation.

AB, that's the vid I tried to attach the other day but could only post a pic of one frame because it was sent to me as an email mp4. I was too lazy to go look for a url!
Thanks.

Why don't you get back under your bridge and leave the sensible discussions to the grownups?
grown ups like yourself that are just as dumb as young kids, you mean? with your senseless arguments? oh wait, I mean the college kids, not younger ones. the innocents of young kids would not be like you.

I don't think you realize this mr. british, but this little argument between the wise one and the rest of you is a wonderful pre-cursor to christ's words in matthew. I'll leave it to you to figure that one out. but given your mindset, you probably have no damn clue what I'm talking about....

At the risk of being drawn into one of your bewildering posts. I would be grateful if you can give examples of my "senseless arguments". Be aware that this is one of the few times I will respond to you.
