Getting Rid of the Electoral College Blight

It can't take 3+ years to bring a slam-dunk case to trial.
Yes it can. It happens often. You know why?
The defendants know they're guilty and are going to get time. They have more privileges when held pretrial than in a sentence pod. They accumulate credit for the time they are held. It's served in a jail and not a prison. They push the trial date out as far as they can to take advantage of that. By the time trial time comes around they can then plead out and get time served or do short time. For many it's a win.

Actually the "cool" kids are now all Trans.

What do you see when you look in a mirror?

Do you think they are so ignorant that they don't see bogus charges when they see them?

"Twenty (20) January 6th inmates were held in D.C. as of Mar. 13, 2023, according to the Washington, D.C. Department of Corrections’ official list, which Just Security has obtained."
And none of these people qualify for bail? And none of these people are entitled to a speedy trial? That is "your" democracy. It is not our Republic. Only political prisoners get held for 3+ years without bail. Every second of time any of these people were in the Capitol is on video tape. Either they are guilty or not. It can't take 3+ years to bring a slam-dunk case to trial. Or is the government still suppressing the video evidence?

Those of you who think it is OK for "some people" to languish behind bars for YEARS without bail and without a trial, deserve the same fate.
With over 900 convictions, it's safe to say that 20 people statistically would be denied bail. You consistently offer up miniscule incidences to try to paint false narrative. Then you offer up several new topics in an attempt to wear us down.
The facts are clear, they raided the capital and killed people doing it. End of story, your people did that.

They didn't kill anyone. One unarmed protestor was killed by a cop.

Tell that the the families of the cops who were so traumatized by getting their asses beaten by an angry mob of "Patriots" that they put a bullet in their head.
I'm guessing you think Nancy and Bowser should have heeded Trumps advice and called in the National Guard?

How many members of Antifa and BLM couldn't get bail after they burned cop cars and occupied public and private buildings in various cities around the country? You CANNOT get away with YOUR two-tiered "justice" system forever. Actual criminals need to go to trial. In at least one of the bogus cases against Trump, he was flatly denied a speedy trial. I guess it works both ways. You get to hurry if you want to but slow to a crawl if you don't. That isn't justice. Justice should be blind it shouldn't vary based on your politics.

Can't wait to see the Jan 6th committee facing charges for destroying evidence.

Maybe not directly. But does that make it ok?
That reeks of factual manipulation to push a political agenda. It is also a selective viewpoint since it ignores the violence instituted by BLM and Antifa, which was even endorsed by Kamala Harris. So we have a person running for president who has demonstrated support for terrorists. Harris, as a supporter of terrorism and as racist anti-semite, does not deserve our vote.

David Dorn, a retired Black police captain from St. Louis, was killed during the BLM riots in June 2020. Dorn, who had served over 38 years with the St. Louis Police Department.

That story fell off the main stream media before his body was cold, because It didn't fit the narrative.

It's not my justice system, It's ours. I agree cases need to go to trial for 2 reasons. One is trump needs to be held accountable like the rest of the country. Two, I make a lot of money off trials.

I'll bite. Name one. Just one. I'll wait.

It may be back in the news if the innocence project takes it up. Seems the ex-cop shot first, no witnesses, no forensics, life sentence.

You do know that a defendant has to make a speedy trial motion right? Show me.

As an aside, some discussions are being moved from "Watercooler" to "Politics and Current Events." This is one such thread.

What?
There is no justification for storming the capital building. Period.
But you, as long as it was in the name of Trump, well that's OK.
Victims. The hallmark of conservatives beleifs.

So you agree with Trump, Nancy and Bowser should've called in the national guard.

Trump could have done it during the commercials but he was too busy flipping between channels

The D.C. National Guard is the only National Guard unit, out of all of the 54 states and territories, which reports only to the President.

Trump could have done it during the commercials but he was too busy flipping between channels

DC Police Chief Sund Stated:

“Two days before Congress was set to formalize President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund was growing increasingly worried about the size of the pro-Trump crowds expected to stream into Washington in protest.

To be on the safe side, Sund asked House and Senate security officials for permission to request that the D.C. National Guard be placed on standby in case he needed quick backup.

But, Sund said Sunday, they turned him down.”

I love the argument that since nobody else did anything trump didn't have to.

If your house was burning and no one else called the fire dept would you just keep watching fox?
