Nah... I was on a murder trial and know the games lawyers play to make a jury feel a person has changed. He still has the ability in him to pull the trigger again and should be put away. Some people never get it - it's not the gun, it's the person that needs the focus...

Did that ken. Paid off the mortgage with some of the lump sum payment I got. Got the works pension now, then I get the state pension in October as well.

Nice being in bed during the rush hour! Do a bit on the garden and greenhouse. Go to town spend an hour or so having coffee with friends.

All in all, not bad, still having students staying - got two more next week actually.

Still do a bit here, actually, posted this week for first time in months. It's so boring on these forums now compared to 10 years ago, far too strict now, can't say anything without getting told off or banned.

Even Brian hinted my comments vouch for nothing because I am "childless and sexist".

I'm tired of being a 24hr carer. It's a feeble excuse but fun is way off the agenda these days.

Who was it that said "come sweet death?", I smoke alot, drink a bit hoping for the 2nd heart attack that may be the last. Then I'll know the answer to the atheist thread.

I believe gun laws work, but only over the long run. If I take guns away from the public right now, crime will rise, but it will diminish over time because the people that are still obtaining guns will lose the ability, over time, to obtain them. The question is, how long are we willing to wait for things to get better?

You know full well I always hold grudges, and I always get even, I am happy to wait sometimes years. My brother in law is on my list, I told him a serious confidence which he promised to keep quiet. After a year he told my sister who can't keep her mouth shut to save her life. Terrible repercussions followed. I told him he will be on the list. By the way, he's a Christian which is why I trusted him.

You also know full well I can take insults. I have been called a nazi through to being obnoxious and arrogant.

Anyway, I've been posting a week or so, time to ease off for a month or two.

Thank you! You have 100% proved my point. Americans refuse to take responsibility for their actions. What if the robber was not a robber, but someone who stepped into the wrong house by mistake? Maybe in the USA, the family of the victims should use the wrongful death suites and sue the shooter for millions.

If the intruder has a weapon in his hand it will not matter. Most people will not walk into someone else's home without knocking. I guess you have a doorman, security, bobbies walking the streets, etc. Don't have that here. WOuld take about 15 minutes for someone to get to me but the way you believe we should live, you would just condemn me and mine to death by not being able to protect ourselves.

I am 52 years old, never heard a gun shot in my life, probably never will. Not many Americans in large cities can say the same. As yes we have gun violence in Canada, and every single gun was bought in the USA.

I pity you then. you don't know what you are missing. Besides you want us Americans to live like you Canadians? In fact, if we lived like you liberals want us to back in 1777, we would still be a part of Britain. Fortunately we had a bunch of people who used logic to think and not emotions.

Unfortunately the use of weapons appears to be increasing in this country. I blame TV and immigration.

Brian I believe you to be a good person but very naive. When you broadcast there is not way to protect property or people, you get what you get. You see, I do not trust people good side and the more desperate they are, well, you know. I really do hate to hear that but when you disarm the citizens as Germany did in 37', you need to expect the worse.

Just think, you can now buckle up your holster in your Sunday best, tootle off to church on Sundays, polish your gun during the sermon, pledge allegiance to your god, then come home and kill a teenage girl burglar just in case she has an AK47 hidden.

I read in the news that Oscar Pistorius has changed his stance on private weapon possession. He used to love his guns. He never used to go out without "packing heat", owned a large number of powerful guns, had just bought a brand new magnumwhatever (the MOST POWERFUL blah blah blah) and in fact slept with a gun at his bedside.
All of a sudden he says he never wants to see another gun.
I wonder what made him change his mind, just like that.

Is this that fellow that shot the girl in the bathroom??????? Saw where he lived. Looked like he live in a prison. I think they said that murder, robbery ran rampant there. Probably the reason for the guns and his attitude but shooting her was simply murder. Unfortunately, they said she did not get a chance to shoot back.

The thing with laws is ...they exist, but it does not mean that people follow them. There will always be someone avoiding the law, and doing whatever they want. When it comes to guns however, this can unfortunately be very dangerous.
