In case anyone thought racism in America was dead . . .

How can I expect things to change for the better when HALF of this country shuns an inspiring, intelligent, and rational leader in favor of an sick old man who dreams of nothing but war?

Instead of many leaders FROM your generation, I meant to say many leaders CHOSEN BY your generation.

How can the rest of the country expect things to change for the better when HALF of this country shuns an experienced leader with a top shelf US Senate record, just becasue they think that he is "a sick old man who dreams of nothing but war"? That is a very BIASED description that I have only seen used by Partisan HACKS. I hoped you were better than that.

When I look at the two candidates, I ask myself one question. Do I want to vote for the party that has:
  • The Candidate for PRESIDENT with the least experience and the Candidate for VICE PRESIDENT with the most experience
OR
  • The Candidate for PRESIDENT with the most experience and the Candidate for VICE PRESIDENT with the least experience
I tend to choose the latter because WISHFUL THINKING will not and cannot solve the problems of this country.

Dick Cheney has a lot of experience.
Donald Rumsfield has a lot of experience.
Colin Powell has a lot of experience.
Condi Rice has a lot of experience.
Heck, even Dubya himself had a lot of "executive" experience.

How well did that turn out?

I will pick someone someone who lacks experience and yet HAS common sense over their more experienced, yet deluded counterpart any day of the week.

Except declare unwarranted and illegal wars

Now there is an Oxymoronic phrase if I have ever heard one (illegal war).

NO WAR WILL EVER BE CONSIDERED LEGAL BY ALL PEOPLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

Whining and Crying about an "illegal war" is just another way to bash a country without having any real substance to the arugment against them. Try using real arguments from time to time
  • Refer to the WMD Issue (Why not, everyone else does)
  • Inject Al-Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden, or 9/11/2001 into a conversation if you think it will help.
  • Mention the fairy tales regarding getting even for the past events if you think they are important
I think the point is made.

It was illegal in the sense that congress did not explicitly authorize it. Then again, by that standard, we haven't had a "legal" war in decades.

Nice analogy, but Sarah Palin has more administrative experience than the other 3 combined, regardless of the attempted character assassinations from Obama and his allies in the media.

And other than that, she has more experience in government in general than Obama, period.

So you are saying it was illegal of Britain and France to declare war on Germany after Germany refused to withdraw its troops from Poland in 1939. Are you also saying it was illegal of the USA to wage war against Japan after Pearl Harbour.

War can be justified and perfectly legal. It depends on the circumstances.

What executive experience? She has been in charge of a state that is only marginally part of the untion, with a population smaller than the city of Denver, for less than 2 years. Maybe the mayor of Denver is also qualified to be the VP? Oh, and John McCain actually got up yesterday and claimed that her experience in the PTA qualifies her. Seriously??? Then I should be the VP, because I have been attending the PTA for YEARS!

She has said that it's time for "Joe 6 pack" to have a turn in the government, basically admitting that she is unqualified, and saying that unqualified people should get a chance to run things too. How would you feel if your doctor was "Joe 6 pack" instead of a certified medical doctor? Would you let him cut you open? Or would you DEMAND someone qualified to do the job?

They did not have to authorize anything (in advance at least). The needed to approve the actions that were taken within a pre-determined time period after the action was taken (which they did). Take a look at the 1973 War Powers Act to get an idea.

Did we do the right thing?
Each person will have to determine that on their own.
Was it illegal?
Not according to the laws of this country

I totally agree with you, but the thing to remember is the level of government, not the length of time involved.

Personally, I would like to see a non Washington Politician involved in the leadership again. Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton proved that an outsider (State Governor without major ties to the Senate or House) had the potential to make an excellent leader as far as Executive/Legislative Branch relations goes (I will leave the political bickering to others).

Only in the United States

Don't you even read the American press, I'll remind you, there weren't and never were any WMDs, except in America of course

Iraq had absolutely no connection with Al-Qaeda,or Osama Bin Laden, until the US invaded it

Mention the fairy tales regarding getting even for the past events if you think they are important

So the killing of thousands of innocent Iraqis and Afghans is justifiable in your eyes based on the actions of a very small number of idiots

I think the point is mad
So do I:rolleyes:

Well the general concensus is that Biden won the debate and Palin's a loser

"
Ah shucks, Sarah Palin didn't answer 1 question, there were alot of words coming out of her mouth, but no answers. She needs to go back to Alaska, shoot elk, and watch Russia from her back porch. Obama/Biden are the only viable candidates, yet people still support 4 more of Bush Jr. and a smiling stepford wife. I'm hopeful the American people will oust any remnants of the old regime, but every once in a while, I feel a tiny scream in the back of my brain telling me America is doomed,

fyi: Saying it twice did not make the quote anymore substantive - :)

You must be checking the wrong media sources. What I heard was that Palin knocked it out of the park and Biden didn't lose but didn't win. He didn't lose because he was a gentleman (which was not expected).

Maybe he's too old? I heard somewhere that us old people should just shut up and let the angry young people decide.

I think anyone who voted for W. (either the first or the second time) should recuse themselves from voting this time, unless they have come to their senses and realized how mistaken they were.
