I never said it had anything to do with you, just asking a question, that's not being answered
Well you posed it specifically in reply to my comment that you've alienated everyone in the Watercooler. Whatever...

Good night all. Hopefully by tommorrow this stupidity will have ended and we can all get on with our lives.

Yep. That's pretty much my attitude. Oh well, I'll be leaving to go home soon. Friends everyone? ;)

I don't think that Jesus intended for people to stand by while their families are murdered just saying, "Go ahead, I'm a Christian so do what you want and I can't fight back." Yes, try to find a peaceful solution if at all possible, but don't allow harm to come to your family.
Did he fight back when he was dragged off ?

No but according the scriptures he is the son of God.

As such he is expected to behave in a way, we can only aspire.

As well as being brought to Earth solely to teach us and die for our sins. That's why he was here.

No He didn't but then that is what He came to do. He had a purpose to fulfill and He fulfilled it. I think your pushing a square peg through a round hole, trying to compare dying for the cause of Christ and dying because you did not protect your family. Christ did say, to his disciples (all who died a martyr death except 2), to turn the other check, but keeping that verse in context it would not take it to the extreme of allowing yourself to become a doormat and just stand there and die because your not suppose to defend yourself. Even the 10 Commandments say that shalt not commit murder, not thou shalt not kill.

Nah nah, that's the American version of them, used to justify its love of the gun

That's an interpretation that can be clearly taken to mean that Americans have more faith in a gun than God.

Isn't the purpose of Christianity to love God and each other as he supposedly loves us?

No, it's the Hebrew interpretation of that verse. I don't even own a gun so why would I be trying to justify the love of a gun?

How in the world could you ever come with this. An American version of this verse. I didn't know their were different countries versions of interpreting this verse. Surely you do not think anyone, Christian or otherwise, is suppose to just allow themselves and their family, to be killed just because someone decided to break into their home.

Well there must be, everything I've ever read or been taught on the Ten Commandments quite clearly quotes "Thou shalt not kill", first time I've ever heard "Thou shalt not murder" is from an American.

How long would Benidorm last if British tourists stopped going there, where do you think they'd be employed

How long would it last? What a stupid question. You think it would disappear if they stopped going???

I'm off to talk to the cat, I can have a better discussion with it than you.

Rich, the Bible was translated from Hebrew (Old T..) and Greek (New T..) it's not too hard to translate for yourself. Go check what it says in the Hebrew. That's where all of our Bibles are translated from. Yours and mine. Problems come in when men translate it because Hebrew and Greek are are so much more complex than ours.

Maybe,

It’s hard to judge faith.

Some people are quiet about their faith. I have the faith of a recovering alcoholic.

For 17 years I have never had a moments laps in faith. No one knows for sure what others feel when it comes to this.
