All good fun?

But appearance can be deceiving.

Yep big brown eyes and red blood on a Christmasy background is a little more evocative than a turkey in a factory.

Yes but they also quote some other source saying its cruel, I don't know, I am prepared to believe the Vetinary society, but am cynical enough to wonder if they may have a vested interest.

Aren't you supposed to be busy with that 'to do list' or something. :D

OK, here is an interesting read Norwegian seal-hunting

So can't you Europeans keep them in line?

Dear me... I go to one meeting and when I get back Selena has let this thread go all to pcs...

Rain stopped play :D , the pond will have to stay mucky till another day.

Having read my post and FoFas reply I realised that I've already lost the ability to post clearly, I thought Colin had pointed us to the CNN thread to prove thatthe hakapik was inhumane, it didn't, and I thought that the point of this thread was to argue that point.

Ok, must tell story, must tell story.
having grown up on a farm, and butchered animals for food, I am a little less apathetic about the plight of domesticated animals than those that care to ignore the facts. About 12 years ago we were at one of those drive through safari things, and after stopped at the petting zoo (since I had a 16 and 2 year old with me). Now for those of you who have never seen a calf, let me tell you, they are rather cute. They have these big, pretty brown eyes with long lashes, and usually if around humans rather friendly. My 16 year old wanted to take it home (yes just what I need, an 800 pound cow in my yard down the road). So I just said, "Yes, she would make good hamburgers after she gets bigger", which in hind sight might have been a mistake. My 16 year old started crying. But she still eats beef to this day

Maybe the weather will clear up later this evening. Your clocks did go forward last weekend didn't they? Still plenty of daylight left :p

My point seems to usually be to try and stop Col from calling people 'paranoid'. Sorry if I derailed the thread, I just can't help pulling him up on it :o

I also grew up on a farm with lots of beef cattle and our freezer was always full of fresh beef, so maybe I have the same mindset as FoFa.

It looks like Norway has very similar rules as Canada (except that we don't hunt seals to reclaim the fish stocks -- there's too many factors in that situation to just blame the seals).

Brain, I can't even remember a thread where arguing a point lasted past page 2.
