Not years off. It has already come.

No kidding. After the terrorist strike on the World Trade Center (9/11) we became the "
victims" of the Patriot Act to "
protect" use from terrorists threats. Now the pandemic is being used as a convenient incident to promote some more social engineering, such as tracking where people are going and who they are in contact with.
Just this morning, a person who works for a drone manufacturing company, was dismissing (with repugnance) that drones would ever be used to "
look inside people's bedrooms". His asserted that the drones would only be used to ensure social distancing complaisance. I guess, he has never heard of "
mission creep". (the Patriot Act being one example.) Also, he used the phrase "
whatever it takes", which is ominous.
In another clip, a person claimed that drones would not be video taping what they observe. We know from prior incidences, that officials do peek and leak. To extend this a bit further, drones may be used under the auspices of a search warrant. GPS devices and cell phones are increasingly becoming "
targets" of the investigation process.
