Coronavirus - are we all doomed?

She belongs on network news as an anchor. How did Trump not hire her?

Someone spent some time on that vid.

Well he's certainly been irradiating himself with UV :sneaky:.

I 'm looking forward to hearing the reasons that the numerous Trump supporters here at AWF will use to defend such uninformed, foolish and dangerous comments

Numerous lol, there maybe 3-4. And that's really pushing it.😏

Why don't we just put on gloves and masks and go back to work? Seems to work in other countries.

Well I've just come up with six fervent Trump supporters off the top of my head ...all of whom post frequently here... and that's without checking through recent threads
Anyway, please do inform us why you believe Trump's comments to be a wise and sensible contribution to the current situation regarding COVID

There is no point it would be twisted into something unrecognizable similar to your comment of numerous fervent Trump supporters. It only feels that way Colin. :ROFLMAO:

November is not that far away, the American people can vote him out, if they do not like the job he is doing.

I'll concede the word was used clumsily.
However when I use words inappropriately or talk nonsense, it doesn't have any impact on the population of a country.
Whereas every time Trump does so (which is frequently), it has a significant impact

I had a long conversation somewhere buried in one of threads here about Trump and I was trying to tell that Trump is not a normal person to do normal mistakes. The whole world is looking at him and his responsibility is different, so he should be more careful when he opens his mouth. But everybody was saying he's a human and a human do mistakes.

I can't still understand their point.

Trump said what he said. He may have been too glib. But we need to also examine the context that many reporting on Trump purposely misconstrue (in a negative manner) what Trump said. Along those lines, Trump (being humorous) asked the Russians to hand over Hillary Clinton's emails. The press went berserk wildly accusing Trump of colluding with Rusia. Trump was joking.

However, if getting into the implications of using "words inappropriately or talk nonsense, it doesn't have any impact on the population of a country."; where is the public outrage concerning Biden, who could be the next US President?

Biden has made plenty of gaffs. It is well known that when it comes to women, he is touchy feely and has recently been accused of sexual assault by Tera Reade. The left wing press and various women's groups have been amazingly silent on this issue. Hillary Clinton, in 2015, made a big deal that sexual assault victims have a right to be heard and a right to be believed yet Tera Reade's accusations don't seem to be worthy of reporting or investigating.

So when it comes to Trump, the slightest foot-in-the-mouth misuse of language is elevated to a major faux pas mandating Trump's impeachment. When it comes to Biden, the similar abuse of language just shows his gentle down to earth folksy nature which makes him a man-of-the-people worthy to have his finger on the nuclear weapons trigger. Vote for good old Joe!!! (sarcasm)

That was me Tera. My point was that to hold someone to an impossible standard is, well, impossible. For me, you have to look at the aggregate, not individual things someone says. For example, Einstein said God does not play dice with the universe. This was in reference to quantum physics, for which he was very skeptical. Well, he was clearly wrong. However, the guy, on aggregate, is a genius, in particular in the realm of physics. People have strengths and weaknesses. They can also be right on things they are bad at, and wrong on things they are world experts at. The same for politicians. There is nobody out there that is all strengths. Given that, it is easy to criticise others for what they say and believe.

Regarding Trumps recent comments on "lets light up our insides" (chuckling at this!), I think he is just kinda riffing on the thoughts out loud. Thought experiments of sorts. I was told that he also said he was not a doctor after his comments, although I haven't actually seen the clips.

As an aside, Trump was widely criticised in the media for suggesting his campaign was being spied on. Well, turned out to be true. So, perceptions can change once you have more information.

One extra thing! Religion! Atheists think that the religious believe in nonsense. Its all in their heads. Yet 80% of American citizens are religious. So, if you are an atheist, why not talk about the dangers of following something that doesn't actually exist?

I agree with most of what you have written here.

I think political views come in. Once you have established your "team", you have nailed yourself to the mast. You will seek out evidence confirming your opinion, while ignoring evidence that contradicts it. Confirmation bias: https://www.verywellmind.com/what-is-a-confirmation-bias-2795024

We all do it, and I am not immune to it myself either.

Edit: Little thought experiment. If I was born in Pakistan, I would probably believe in the Koran, even if I moved to the UK. This is a good example of confirmation bias at work. You hang on to what you were initially taught.
