It is possible that both of your reject criteria may be embodied in her. When she goes on a speech, I don't know that she knows when to shut up. And she was in Congress for a while. There is some question as to whether she had a sense of humor then or now.

Another complication in the USA is that nothing seems to be made law by Washington, each state makes their own laws so you could get 50 different laws regarding gun usage. At least, that's what it seems to me.

@DickyP I'd like to see the figures on gun crime in the UK you are basing that sweeping statement on. Daily Mail?
The attached would seem to completely disagree. 9000 offences across all categories last year, as opposed to 24000 20 years ago.

When I was younger, and home schooled, my mother made us study cases like Marbury extensively. We practically had some of the holding memorized at one point.
Nowadays I doubt they even cover it in school, although they definitely should. So people understand the why and the value of the supremeness of the supreme court, rather than whining about it and calling for term limits, which would put us on a roller coaster of back and forth laws that changed every 4 years , like most of the rest of our laws do and are thereby mostly useless

When it comes to gun control, and people waving around statistics (which it's so easy to find stats to back up any side you're on) - challenge them to one thing:

Show me the yearly statistics for incidents where the presence of a gun deterred a crime or saved life/limb

When they can't, they'll start to realize the bainful inadequacy of gun violence statistics. I'm not saying it proves this or that, but it's valuable to at least get your brain to the point where you can ADMIT that a big part of the picture is missing.
