Coronavirus - are we all doomed?

Fact, the virus started in Wuhan China.
It is also thought a strong possibility that it came from some kind of animal being prepared for food.
Fact, it is now worldwide and experts in many countries are working on a solution.
Fact, this pandemic will go on for months, not be cleared up by Easter like the clown in Washington said yesterday.
Fact, this is the biggest threat mankind has known for centuries.

I agree with all of those except this one. I guess it depends on what your measures are, but I think the avian and swine flu had higher death rates. Then there is/was AIDS, which is still with us. Here's an interesting take on 20 serious pandemics. Note who's responsible for starting some of the more recent ones...

That's not what he said, he hopes to open parts of the workforce by then. Without the economy there will be jobs to come too.

By the way I saw one of the Royals still shaking hands, you know the who is sick now.

Edit: there are two sick now, sounds like Harry and Meg made the right move after all.

Don't forget this pandemic has only just started. We are expecting 20,000 deaths just in the UK. Plus I was trying to keep the thread on track.

A little levity...

About a week ago, the shower developed a leak. My son who works on building sites got laid off, and came round and disassembled the shower. We now need to put 8 X 4 plywood on the walls, we also need tiles and tile adhesive, plus 4 X 2 timber, and a few other bits and pieces. I know Wickes are doing click and collect, but 8 X 4 ply doesn't appear to be available.. There's also the hole in the ceiling where the water came through. Now I'm wondering about the ethics, all the shops are shut so people are not making a living, but here am I trying to get this job finished... Is it a priority? Well.. we can manage without a shower... I'm sure if we do find some plywood, and get stopped on the way back, the police will say is this journey necessary? It's a difficult one to call... what do you think?

Roll the dice. I'm sure you could sell the cops on the idea that you felt it was a genuine necessity. Chances are if you are humble enough, they'll slap you hand and tell you to forth and sin no more...

Roll the dice.

It was your post which prompted me to post, because I'm sort of sitting on the fence on this one. I'm wondering if it's partly because I don't want to do the DIY and this Coronavirus is a bloody good excuse!

Well HELL! In that case you have the perfect "Honey, I would but..."

We have a large population of second home owners. One town has a winter population of @ 1500. The summer population is @ 20,000. For the most part they are almost all from New York City. Many have come early to escape the city. The Health Department has asked that anyone from NYC self quarantine. What do you think the chances are?

I think it's the same old problem as always, it applies to everyone but "ME". This is why I think there should be be a blanket law that applies to everyone. The problem with a blanket law is then, who shops, who goes to the doctor, who walked the dog, so you are relying on people to be sensible. In the main I think they are, but there's always that case where you can justify doing something that you know you shouldn't do... But it really brings it home to you when you realise that one of your Close relatives is in one of the vulnerable groups.
