Did I make this up?

shouldn't Forum Member 2 let it drop? its been a week now:rolleyes:

Yes, of course other forum members can judge for themselves but it looks to me as if forum member number two is carrying on some sort of vindictive vendetta against forum member number one

Yes, forum member 2's persecution could be upsetting to other forum members numbered 3 to 32,048 (including Forum member 1 also)

Yes, terms like Chicago and mobster jump to mind and we all know why Chicago was Franks kinda town;)

Shouldn't Forum Member 2 not be so touchy in the first place?

1.) Forum Member 1 uses a word that is innocuous in his or her local slang but is offensive in Forum Member 2's slang.
2.) Forum Member 2 expresses his or her offense to the word without getting overly upset.
3.) Forum Member 1 explains the non-offensive usage and intent of the word.
4.) Forum Member 1 apologizes for any offense and promises to make an effort to avoid using the offensive word in the future.
5.) Forum Member 2 accepts apology, understands that Forum Member 1 is not intentionally being offensive, and promises to be mindful that words carry different meanings in different cultures.

She already did.

I think "persecution" is a strong word, but the fact that Forum member 1 didn't give a crap about Forum member 2 is what irritated Forum members 3 and 4 in the first place. :D

Fancy calling yourself "she"

If I may, I'd like a offer a simple scenario which will hopefully put this issue to rest:

We do not need a sticky of forbidden words and we do not need to walk on eggshells. All we need is a little civility and a little class. And there is no sense spending 6 pages analyzing the behavior of a forum member who has neither.

What's odd to me is that the British seem to take pride in being proper and yet it's ok for a few to use slang with demeaning racial overtones. I wonder if the old gas bag Queen would ever use 'chink' in one of her public addresses... :p :p

I see the Macarthyites are back again
The Queen (god bless her) only speaks the Queens English so the comparison's absurd.
I also note as an aside that once again the American public have fallen for the "we're winning the war in Iraq and making Americans safer" diatribe.

No but her old man once referred to them as "slitty eyed little gits" does that count?:p

The Queen (god bless her) frequently whips round to the local chinky near Buck House for a nice chicken chow mein and pork balls.

I thought this discussion was finished now anyway.

What's up with this 'God Bless' her stuff? Hasn't her meanless, titular life of unwarranted pleasure been enough blessing for one person? I say 'God Bless' the millions of real mothers that sacrifice everyday for their families, helping to put food on the tables and a roof over their heads. Mind you she appears to be a nice lady and all, but get real...
