I didn't say to get rid of the EPA. I said they are not doing what they are supposed to be doing. Do you think that an illegal diversion of DIRTY road runoff creates a "wetlands"? If so, then why are you upset that some company got away with dirtying OUR river? Yes, our river. I'm looking at it right now. It's probably 200' from my window. I have never heard anything regarding this pollution but I'll look into when it happened and if it was cleaned up.

Why would the EPA declare the dirty road runoff hazard a "wetlands"? Probably because they didn't want to clean it up. THAT is why they were fighting. Luckily the judge saw the pollution for what it was. POLLUTION and not wetlands. So, I am agreeing with you. The EPA is NOT doing it's job.

Why is it so hard for you to see this as a problem? Is it the TDS coloring your opinion? My friend did not cause the pollution. She was trying to get rid of it and the EPS obstructed her. The fact that the impetus for pushing the EPA to do the clean up was a pool is pretty much immaterial. The EPA was NOT doing its job, period.

Mostly because of all the people who got cancer as a result of the pcb's. They began dumping pcb's and other chemicals in the river in the 1930's until about 1977. They also had some landfills they dumped in and some of that soil was later used as fill in some neighborhoods but no one knows exactly where. One of the landfills abuts a school. pcb's can cause neurodevelopmental effects in children.

Then there's the wildlife. Eating the fish has been banned for 30 years or so. You also cant eat any of the wildlife that has contact with the river - deer, rabbit, ducks, etc. Even when the rivers gets clean it's unknown how long it may take for the fish and other wildlife to be safe.

I have never heard anything regarding this pollution but I'll look into when it happened and if it was cleaned up.

Take your time Pat. They estimate it will take 13 years for them to reach the Connecticut border. That is if all the litigation gets settled and they continue the work. So far they've cleaned up about 2 miles since the 70's. Only 150 or so miles to go. One of the big problems in cleaning up the river is they have to start at the top and work their way downriver. Unfortunately as they do this it stirs things up and it flows down the river towards you settling in all the nooks and crannies and getting dispersed over the flood plains every year with the spring melt.

Being in the mountains we have wetlands everywhere. I have one in the woods behind me. They are heavily regulated in Ma. for a variety of reasons, one being they purify the drinking water.

I think you may have it backwards and the EPA declared the runoff a hazard TO the wetlands.

You mean end the winner-take-all? I've been against it for Texas for much longer than the average Democrat. It's egregious here. We are a purple state our demographics runs the entire spectrum, but only Republicans get to vote for the President, and 5 million Democrats get their vote changes to, you guest it, Republican.

You only believe that because that is how you are. Texas should spilt it votes to represent the residents of Texas. The only reason you disagree is because there is no version of the reality of this world that will sway you from the hardest right position possible.

More like the gerrymandering has made it very difficult. I think maybe the Dems are thinking just wait, an election soon will flip. Then they don't have to compromise with the Republicans. It Texas flips with winner-take-all still in place, it will numerically end Republican Presidents prospects.

You REALLY need to study history. There you will find actual mobs, wanton destruction, bombs, murder even. Those mobs weren't Republicans and they weren't guilty of that heinous crime of "parading". Please note that no one was charged with "insurrection", especially the evil orange man, because there wasn't one. The huge crime the tourists were charged with was "parading". A few people actually were destructive and stole things. They were charged appropriately.
