Second Civil War in USA

I think it's time for Britain to take back America!
Just promise to give us "free" stuff and the stupids among us will line up like sheep as they click your "like" button to see what free stuff you are dispensing:(

The FBI received Hunter's laptop 4 years ago with zero fast-track and zero interest in the laptop or Burisma.
Let us not forget the feckless piece of dog poo who was the AG at the time:poop::poop::poop::poop:

Once again the spinless Republican wimp-out. The Democrats had no problem with removing Republicans from committees and removing certain Republicans from their Jan. 6th witch-hunt committee. As one commenter wrote: "Democraps would NEVER break ranks to save a Republican. That's why we lose so often. Disgraceful."

UG if we have a civil war who would y'all support?

Based on what Colin says, if I am to believe it, the radical left-wing narrative is the only thing that you guys get exposed to about our news and events. Is that true?

If you want to prevent civil war then you might take a few tips from this YouTube video.

The shift from traditional media to online media has resulted in polarisation of the message because this attracts the most views and captures an audience, which is what you need to generate an income online.

It's well worth watching the video because the debaters are excellent, well there's a very good example of a nasty manipulative debater and a good example of how to respond to that.

My take on it, YouTube annoys me because it serves up things it thinks I want to watch by analyzing what I've watched previously. What it doesn't understand is that I like to watch everything...

I like to watch the right and the left, the conservative and labour, the republican and the democrat. That way I can judge for myself who tells the truth, who bends the truth, and those that are just damn well lying!!

Hopefully my general approach will keep me where I want to be, which is in the middle. But it's very difficult when you have to put up with so many liars... You are sometimes tempted just to switch them off but that would be a mistake...

Canada and justin trudeau's treatment of the truckers it's an example of how to use political power to discredit the general public and take your country along the road of ruin....

My problem EXACTLY. The solution to the total control Google, et al have over the search market is a control panel that WE can use to stop that narrowing of our view of the world. The average person has no clue that his opinions are being manipulated. In part due to his own clicks.

Good one UG.
I take an approach that's a bit different but with a similar goal. I just deliberately read multiple news sources, sources I already know are generally curated for 'the left' or 'the right'. It's easier than trusting myself to watch 'everything' - since my own bias might damn my choices to sought-after conclusions.

I just make sure I cover right wing stuff like Fox, OANN, Newsmax, and yes - Vdare sometimes too (frankly most of what they say isn't false, though they have a bad rep)

Then I cover left wing crap like MSNBC, CNN, NPR, and the Guardian which I also consider to be a parrot of left wing crap, though they clamor on and on about being bias free.

My family

I've been talking with a friend about which country we might flee to if we HAD to.
A few come to mind, mostly for neutrality, not because they are 'like' me.
And since Spanish language is a big deal in my house, I am drawn to Costa Rica, if they would have me.

I love those articles Steve, they're fun to read.

I always daydream about taking $100k a year in the US and living like it's a million somewhere, or taking my likely $65-76k/year of retirement income and living somewhere like it's $750,000.

Maids, servants, beaches, cooks, the nicest house in town - it's fun to daydream!

For example, I wonder how many people whose diet is a steady CNN/NPR/NBC know about the Starbucks employee who won a major, and what I would consider LANDMARK $25 million against Starbucks for openly discriminating against her because she was WHITE ?

A few of my affluent and knowledgeable friends have done just that...

I've known several people from there, they all lived to like 100 and were very peaceful, stress-free folk.
Then again, being at peace is a choice, I must remind myself that. I'm not doomed to stress b/c I'm an American

Wow

we have assembled the worst bunch of useless politicians you can imagine.

Not that it should be a competition, but Cotswold, I have to say that the USA could probably offer competition on that point. And I'm TRULY sorry to say that we could win that competition.

Does anyone else get this feeling regularly?

Seeing people you really like, and you think to yourself "Oh wow! YES - that person TOTALLY should be President".........in the early stages before the primary election.

Then sadly seeing none of them ever make it to the general election?

I feel like we're stuck in that cycle. There are dozens of examples. Just take Tulsi Gabbard as one. A very regular, common sense type of woman. Would've been better than Trump OR Biden.

And all the people this time that won't win but would make absolutely fine presidents we could be totally proud of - Vivek, Nikki, heck - I'd almost go so far as to consider Democrat Kennedy, if he'd move firm centrist on a couple of fiscal and social issues - that's how much I'm not 'married' to a party

Yep, Nikki Haley would be a good candidate. First-generation American from educated immigrant parents. Ambassadorial experience, gubernatorial experience, not NEARLY as extreme as many out there.

@Isaac: Very interesting question. I have a different take, which may have an indirect association with your post.

There appears to be something "wrong" with the baby boom generation, that I have yet to fully formulate. As a brief introduction, WWII gave us some in the military rose to become president. This would be Eisenhower, Kennedy, and H. W. Bush. Yet the Vietnam era did not generate any (military) leaders who rose to become president. Clinton, was not in the military. Obama, does not count as he is too young to have been influenced by the Vietnam era. G.W. Bush was only vaguely in the military so I don't know if he was really influenced by the Vietnam era, Neither Trump nor Biden served in the military. Was the Vietnam era simply a distant obscure issue to them?

While, my examples above concern those who served in the military, the Vietnam era was also the birth of the "Flower Power" movement. The "Flower Power" movement also had an effect on how baby boomers viewed the world. Did this have an effect on turning-off baby boomers to serving the nation? That may explain (to a degree) the dearth of suitable baby boomers willing to become president. Coincidentally, the leadership of both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party are old, we have an ossified political system. (A positive sign. Many soldiers who served in Iraq and Afghanistan have been entering Congress.)

The baby boom generation is now fading as it should from the political landscape. Time for new blood, such as Vivek and DeSantis. The Democrats, unfortunately, appear to have made the decision to continue with an ossified leadership. (Reminds me of the now defunct Soviet Union.)

As a brief, but incomplete, conclusion; the baby boom generation has failed to keep the values of the "Greatest Generation" alive.
---------------------------------------------
Since posting, I had additional thoughts based on this issue comparing H. W. Bush (father) to G.W. Bush (son). H. W. Bush was part of of the (Greatest Generation) and served in WWII. His son G.W. Bush is a baby boomer. It seems that G.W. Bush was simply leaching off the legacy of his father. Is this what happened to the baby boom generation?

Probably a lot.
